Why its about the message....(The candidate's Achilles Heel)
Edited on Sun Apr-08-07 03:18 PM by Flabbergasted
As we all know and I'll admit here: Kucinich has little chance of even winning one state. If he were by some miracle to win the dem nomination he would likely lose the general election. As some here have pointed out this is reality. Defeating a monstrous political machine like the US corporate run government is near impossible.

Some people even claim that it is some kind of religious fervor that generates the near ecstatic support of a particular candidate. In terms of Kucinich it is not that way at least for me.

I personally think it is vital that we bring up all the issues during a campaign. Most of these issues most candidates would wish stayed as "non-issues". One example is Depleted Uranium weaponry. Most Americans don't even realize that we are poisoning our own troops and large portions of Iraq and Afghanistan with DU weaponry. When our troops came back with hair loss and kidney failure after Desert Storm the Pentagon claimed it was "Gulf War Syndrome". However juxtaposing GWS and DU poisoning reveals that they have precisely the same symptoms and in fact are the same thing

It is unconscionable to not bring this issue up. And it will not be rectified unless we bring it up. Feel free to claim whatever you wish about Dennis Kucinich but in reality the least likely candidate is adding an important voice for those troops that have died from DU exposure.

1. Sweetie, Kucinich looks too much like your avatar to ever win.
And that's a sad, pathetic fact of American life.

We live in a land of American Idol, McDonald's, Wal-Mart and blood lust.

Kucinich just wouldn't stand a chance, and that's a shame.

2. I'm with you flaber, progressives need to support Kucinich to support our issues.
He doesn't need to win the nomination, he needs to get to the convention with enough delegates to impact the issues.

9 out of the 10 or so candidates running or rumored to run are going to lose the nomination.

Dennis likely will be among that 9 that lose.

But so will a lot of others including at least 2 of the current 3 in the so-called "top-tier."

Kucinich's candidacy offers progressive a golden opportunity to get our issues discussed broadly. And we should seize the opportunity.
