Anyone think Kerry might have dropped the Kerry Story?
OK...hear me out.

Kerry might have known this story would come out at some point, and he knew he didn't want it during the early primaries, but he wanted it to come out early enough to fight it.

So he drops the bomb now, with plent of time to recover...

1. If true - he's unworthy to be president
Hiding something like that and then "dropping" it at the right time would be worse than the allegations.

2. Politicians do it all the time
That's why the first thing a national candidate does is snoops on themselves with a 3rd party - see what can be dug up.

I wouldn't blame Kerry for this - the IWR is more of a reason not to vote for him in the primary.

4. Kerry now unelectable
John Kerry is now officially unelectable. We cannot afford to risk going through this nightmare again; not during an election.
We know that he'll be eaten alive for this. He got the woman to leave the country???? This is actually really bad.

Edwards/Dean ticket??

14. Please stop spamming DU with this same post
Three posts all saying the same thing. Rove seems to be hitting the bottom of the barrel here.

17. Edwards for the war/Dean against the war
If that doesn't matter, which I'm afraid it does, Edwards/Clark would be better ticket IMHO. Of course this is all unfair speculation under the assumption Kerry has g/f problem. Having said that, what's been so fair about this process anyways? I mean Kerry went from having no campaign to front runner extraordinaire overnight. I guess he could go back down just as fast. If this g/f thing is true, he suddenly looks alot less electable.

3. Don't be silly.
If a politician can't do that, he's not worthy of the name.

7. If the story turns out to be true, no one will want to elect a man with
a sex scandal attached to him. The last several years of Bill's term was crippled because of this and the American voter will not want to deal with this type of scandal again.

10. What bomb? She dropped off a resume and left.
It requires a quantum leap to extrapolate that into an ilicit affair.

More likely came from either the Rove or the Dean camps.

13. Kerry is the best campaigner in the race.

It's not 'luck' that made him the frontrunner.

16. It's possible, but...
does Kerry have the charisma of a Bill Clinton, who could turn a scandal around and maintain popular support?

18. Lehane's name has come up
Time will tell whether that is true, of course.

If, as some initial reports allege, this is an old story that just never made the news, it may not have "legs" anyway.

I've read Drudge's 5 headlines all linking to the same 10 lines and they tell me nothing.
