Dear Senator McCain,
I find your recent photo opportunity disgusting. Not only disgusting, but blood-drenched. So you could have still photos and video for a few campaign commercials, 21 innocent Iraqis are dead.
You HAD to know that any area in Baghdad that you used for prop, any average Iraqi that you talked to on-camera, any symbol of the imagined progess in Baghdad, would become the immediate target of the legions of Iraqis that HATE US for what we have done, and allowed to happen, to their country and their people.
You HAD to know that.
And you did it anyway. You deliberately put the lives of a hundred American soldiers at risk in the marketplace with your photo-op. Risk of a sniper attack, risk of a mortar attack, risk of an undiscovered IED.
You deliberately put the lives of 5 helicopter crews at risk as well. By hovering around the marketplace for over an hour, they were vulnerable to attack by heavy machine guns, RPGs, and shoulder-fired heat-seeking missiles.
And because you touched the Baghdad marketplace, 21 people were killed. 21 people that were deemed trustworthy enough by the American military to be in the same marketplace as a presidential candidate were also deemed traitors by Iraqi nationalists. Traitors that had to be killed. And you were nice enough to smear pictures of them all across the television, print media, and internet so they knew who to kill. And if some of them were not in the marketplace with you, well, that's secondary to the message, isn't it?
Their blood is on your hands, Senator McCain.
I have come to the conclusion that you are, and probably never were, a real 'maverick'. You are the 'designated maverick' by the Republican party, a bone to toss to the independents that seek that status in a candidated. And that means you are just a much a tool of the Republican Party establishment as Bush.
Shame on your blood-soaked hands, Senator. Shame.
Very sincerely, Krispos42
