D.C. CONFIDENTIAL
Pro-Union Hillary Harbors Labor Foes

As Hillary Clinton bashed corporate America for union-busting this week at a Washington convention of labor-schmoozing Democratic politicians, her chief campaign strategist and pollster, Mark Penn, must've been grinning at the rich irony. He's the Worldwide President and CEO for Burson-Marsteller, an international PR conglomerate known for, well, busting unions, The American Prospect's Mark Schmitt notes.

Beware the Evil Labor Bosses, Burson-Marsteller's website warns. "Companies cannot be caught unprepared by Organized Labor's coordinated campaigns."

There's more where Penn came from, and they're not just limited to the Hillary campaign. Russ Baker exposes the little-talked about dark side of the Democratic Party with a long list of paid Democratic campaign consultants who simultaneously shill for union-busters, tobacco-peddlers, and other assorted underworld characters.

I am glad to see someone else writing about it, and I will help keep it kicked up.

Mine mostly dropped quickly.

This is quite an article.

4. Politicians lie about everything
If they told the truth to the public; they would get no money (Rewards/Bribes) to run.

13. SOME politicians don't lie. Some don't take the money.
Dennis Kucinich and other members of the Progressive Democrats of America are clean.
You can find them here:

http://www.pdamerica.org/

You won't see them on the CorpoTV because they have pledged to break up the Media Monopolies.

6. I wonder how many of Hillary's gullible supporters know about her real record
Their support for this despicable woman is based on a mythology rather than in facts.

8. her "real" record is her voting record
not the guilt by association garbage being peddled here by david sirota.

The AFL/CIO gives her an 85% positive rating. Not as good as Edward's 100%, but still a long way from the "Hillary is anti-union" nonsense being pushed by you.

"despicable woman"?

what's despicable are dishonest posts like your's, that trash good Democrats for motives that are contained, perhaps, in your screen name - indiana "green"?

9. I won't change my screen name to please the likes of you
I explained the origins of the screen name a long time ago, which is partly based on my being very much green on the environment (as Al Gore is), and since I have been a long time supporter of Green Peace.

My Marx avatar would have given you a clue that I am not a member of the Green Party.

Take that, paulk! I hope you join the military when Hillary is President, for she will keep US troops and bases in Iraq after she is inaugurated.

11. Green Party members often have very real reasons
Edited on Mon Apr-02-07 04:32 PM by paulk
for trashing Democrats, being a member of a different political party and all. IG does say she is not a "Green", however. My mistake. She claims an allegiance to the party that holds Karl Marx as it's shining light. Which amounts to the same thing...

IG's posts, over the years I've been here, are consistant with a member of another political party using every tactic, honest or not (and usually not), to discredit a political opponent, and I don't think it's hypocritical to point that out.

Contras, Exxon/Valdez, Union Carbide/Bhopal, Nigeria during the Biafra slaughter, Monsanto, Pinochet,
nuclear weapons contractors, rGBH, NAFTA, Phillip Morris, Indonesia under Suharto, Iraqi National Congress, Jonas Savimbi in Angola.....

They have a long history of shilling for corporations and fascist governments.

20. WP in February: A Few Degrees of Separation From Hillary Clinton's Top Adviser
In the Loop On K Street

Mark J. Penn is a man who wears many hats: high-paid political and corporate pollster, chief executive of an international communications and lobbying company, and chief strategist to New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's bid for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Enough connections for you?

Well, there are more. Penn's firm, Burson-Marsteller Worldwide -- with 2,000 employees and $300 million a year in revenue -- owns BKSH & Associates, the major lobbying firm chaired by Charles R. Black Jr. That's right, Black, counselor to Republican presidents, reports to Clinton's top strategist.

The connections get even more entangled. Burson-Marsteller is a subsidiary of WPP Group, a London-based advertising and PR giant that owns many of the biggest names on K Street. These include Quinn Gillespie & Associates, Wexler & Walker Public Policy Associates, Timmons & Co., Ogilvy Government Relations Worldwide (formerly the Federalist Group), Public Strategies Inc., Dewey Square Group and Hill & Knowlton.

To be more precise, Penn's parent company employs as lobbyists and advisers an ex-chairman of the Republican National Committee (Edward W. Gillespie), a former House GOP leader (Robert S. Walker), a top GOP fundraiser (Wayne L. Berman), and the former media adviser to President Bush (Mark McKinnon).
