Newt will likely run for president
For many reasons and his ego being one of them.

1) Rudy will continue to be a frontrunner - and Newt doesn't like that
2) Newts been wanting the presidency since 1994, right now is his only shot at it. Its a wide open field and he's the only true 'conservative' candidate with enough name recognition among the GOP faithful. He can't wait until 2012 when JEB will likely run.
3)Running for president is a once-in-a-lifetime shot and right now there is no frontrunner and he has a good a shot that he'll ever have.

He'll run and it will be interesting to see how it affects the race. I doubt he'll win the GOP nom, and he can't win the General.

1. We can only hope he does run.
Another corrupt fake Christan pseudo-intellectual serial adulterer. He'll fit right in with the rest if the GOP pack.

2. I would love Newt to be the nominee, his numbers are even worse than Hillary's
I think he and Mitt would definitely be the easiest to beat. Newt has little appeal to independents.

5. He is going run. He did the Mea Culpa about his affairs last month
and is on various talk shows. If having multiple divorces makes you a'conservative' then Newt qualifies to run as one. Interesting how the fundies hate certain sins like homosexuals or drugs, but ignore others such as divorce. I guess if 1/3 rd of fundies been divorced then it's no big deal. Of course, fundies and homos & drugs seem to go well together.

8. Thompson announced today - I thought it was the
other thompson - HOllywood Fred, but then it would mean that they would not air Law & order every hour of every day - or should they?

How about Sam Waterson for Prez?

7. Good
all we'll need to do is point at him and say... THAT is a republican.
Corrupt. Insincere. Manipulative. And Racist.
Yup.
That'll do the trick.

11. You forgot hypocritical. And arrogant.
Is assholey a word? 'Cause I'd throw that in, too.

Schmucky.
Shittty.
Phony.
Narrow-minded.
Divisive.
Judgmental.
Intolerant.
Devious.
Dishonest.

You get the idea.

9. I think he'll run too
It doesn't matter if he's extremely unpopular with most people. His ego is far too large for him not to go for it.

He would lose in a landslide though to any of our candidates - even Hillary.

10. I hope he does run for President!
Just as Hillary is the Grand Polarizer on the Democratic side, Newt is the Grand Polarizer on the Republican side. Who knows, perhaps having Newt run will make us all forget the issues we have with Hillary?

12. The Big Tease--I don't think he's going to run.
That's my nickname for Newt.

I really can't see him getting into it. Newt Gingrich is nothing if not smart. If he announces, his record, his past indiscretions his questionable ethics are all fair game. He may toy with the idea but I don't think he would want to risk it.

I think he'll just bask in the glow of the adoration of the true believers without risking being rejected by the majority of the people in this country who do not agree with his views.

Sadly, we have a "Big Tease" on our side. His name's Al Gore, the man I'd most enthusiastically support should he run. Like Newt, I'm beginning to believe that he's not going to do it.

13. Gawd I hope so!
The Rethugs have such an array of assholes! All are gigantic targets. The only way nay of 'em will see big swells of support is if we have a candidate that really motivates them to get out and vote against the Dem.
