or

2. Drop out

22. Because we need to win in November
And the Clinton years are too fresh in the minds of people to want to go there again. If it's true, Kerry should do the honorable thing and drop out of the race.

She could go before the press and tell the world that this is between me and my husband and no one else. (And perhaps level a great slame on Drudge while at it)

23. Its a "news" source
As evidenced by the scrambling about on this MB..

Deal with it.. and no need to pile on with word games. Deal with the issue at hand... I didnt report it.. and the story looks very vague and lame to me.

33. Makes me wonder about the CNN story of Kerry taking the day off...
This rather innocent paragraph on a CNN news story may have a different meaning altogether if there is something to the Drudge story:

Edwards, Dean chase Kerry in Wisconsin
Massachusetts senator's campaign dismisses 1970 Fonda photo
Thursday, February 12, 2004 Posted: 11:56 AM EST (1656 GMT)

(CNN) -- With Sen. John Kerry taking a rare break from the campaign trail, Sen. John Edwards and former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean tried to convince Wisconsin voters the Democratic presidential race isn't over despite the Massachusetts senator's growing string of victories.

Why would he respond to a Drudge article? It would make as much sense to respond to the latest National Enquirer article about space aliens.

Only if this supposed story reaches mainstream sources would Kerry have to respond.

16. he can respond in an offhand way
Kerry said 'bring it on' - well, this is one of they ways they do that. if he cant effectively fight a smear then wtf is he doing running for president. If, on the other hand, its BS - then he should attack it immediately because it'll help him by showing he isnt going to put up with Rove's BS

if... on the other hand... this guy shtooped an intern a YEAR ago and still ran for president - even after Bill Clinton... then we have a real problem. Even Pavlov's dogs learn better than that.

14. Agreed.
He's done enough damage by becoming the front runner KNOWING this would be found out.

I'm disgusted. I'm disgusted I live in a country where this behaviour is considered to be a disqualification for a president, and I'm disgusted that Kerry either thought he could get away with it and risked the country for his libido, or knew it would come out and didn't care if the Dems lose in '04 as long as he gets his name in the history books for running.

24. You are preaching to the choir
I don't care if he screws goats and whacks off in his wife's panties.
I think a politician's sex life has absolutely nothing to do with his ability to be a president. I supported Clinton thoughout.

However, we live in a land of sexually repressed, violent sociopaths, half of whom VOTE.

They almost caused a revolution when one of Janet Jackson's fucking baby bottles was momentarily exposed.

With little imagination, I can understand the uproar this will cause amongst the maniacs who vote in this country.

And goddamnit, Kerry knew this would come out. If he didn't he is a fool and shouldnt be running for president.

18. I could not disagree more!
I am as strong a Dean supporter as there is, but there is no way Kerry should drop out over this. If the Dems let the Republicans push them around on these nonsensical issues that have nothing to do with policy, we will never win another election. I hope Kerry comes out with guns blazing and takes whoever is spreading this shit down hard.

I also hopes its not true for his family's sake.

"If the Dems let the Republicans push them around on these nonsensical issues"

I hope to God it's not true. But, nonsensical? Let's wait and see if Teresa thinks it's "nonsensical." Many people have traditional values concerning marriage, trust, etc. I know it may not be popular to say - but I don't think it's "nonsensical."

38. No, Kerry Should NOT Drop Out Even if It's True
any more than Clinton should have resigned over the Monica Lewinsky affair.

I know I have a Dean avatar and I would like to see him come back. But Democrats have to stop just standing there and acting like this stuff is everything the GOP says it is. It will take creativity and courage to keep sex scandals from sinking perfectly good candidates.

Kerry's a pro. He has to come up with a politically wise response that limits the damage. If the accusation is false, it should not be too difficult. If it's true and it's old, I think he should confess like Clinton. Why? The Gennifer Flowers issue died -- the Monica Lewinsky issue didn't.

If it's true and it's recent -- that's much trickier.
