Is congress leaning on the oil companies at all?

I'm being asked by a knuckle-dragger why congress isn't doing anything about gas prices. I'm being asked this, of course, because he knows they can't do much. That said, I believe I read somewhere that one of our reps (Waxman maybe) was leaning on the oil companies. Does anyone know? Thanks.

1. They are going to look into the Bush/Cheney Energy Policy,

which I believe might have something to do with the high prices. Of course, that's a Super Secret Document, so it will likely have to be pried out of Cheney's hands forcefully.

When Bush took office, gas was $1.46/gallon. And prior to that, * was critical of Clinton for not doing something about the high price of gas.
