The Kerry/Fonda photo

Here's what I don't get.

Why the rethugs can't figure why a guy who founded "VietNam Veterans Against the War" woud be at anti-war rally.

Why it's a smear to tag a candidate with that. A candidate for the office of President of the United States of America acually campaigning for peace. Certainly can't have that kind of behavior in the Whitehouse.

The rap against John Edwards being a trial lawyer. God -forbid a man who wants to be the leader of the free world having a passing familiarity with the laws the govern that nation.

Sheesh!

5. This is a well-proven concept.

This is a well-proven concept. The Republicans have been getting away
with it at least since Nixon's "Southern Strategy". And we never call
them on it.

2. Here here!!
I totally agree. It is really starting to piss me off that Republicans try to smear anyone's patriotism that doesn't agree with theirs. I am no fan of Jane Fonda at all (I am an active duty guy, and what she did by going to Vietnam was criminal--but that is for another thread) but John Kerry served, and served admirably.

Coulter ripping on Max Cleland really pissed me off, too. God Forbid your view on the world, patriotism, or the war on terror doesn't equate to theirs, or you're automatically a treasonous traitor.

3. They'll tie this event...
Edited on Thu Feb-12-04 10:45 AM by YNGW
... in with all the other anti-Vietnam events that Kerry participated in, along with his Senate record of voting against defense appropriations during the cold war and since them, etc... and ask the American people how can they vote for someone who has a record of undercutting the military and protesting against it and who wants to place American troops under the headship of the UN while we're trying to root out terrorists organizations.

I think Rove got the man he wanted to run against.

7. It's about the Veterans...
The GOP is hoping to damage Kerry's relationship with the Vietnam Veterans who seem to support him in great numbers. Remember that the mere mention of Jane Fonda is enough to send many Viet Vets into a state of anger that seems to recognize no rationality. Tying Kerry to Fonda WILL turn some vets off to Kerry.

8. Jeez, you would think you could find a bunch of current Repukes who
attended plenty of anti-war rallies related to Vietnam.

Don't they constantly point out that the Vietnam war was a product of LBJ?

Wasn't it usually a bunch of rich kids on campuses (who were able to get into college, since the school loans weren't as common as now) that were attending most of these anti-war rallies?
