Nice LTTE in my local weekly
I could not have said it better myself. A little background. Dave Berkman is a media writer and was a Dean Supporter who switched to Clark after Iowa.

Deany-Bopper: Let the People Decide

Dave Berkman recently deemed Wesley Clark "the electable Dean" <"Media Musings," Jan. 22>. Howard Dean is the real "electable Dean."

I was born and raised in Wisconsin. Even though my husband's job forced us to move to Texas, I am and will always be a Cheesehead. I'm a product of public and parochial education in Wisconsin and I'm very proud of it. I'm also proud of the fact that Wisconsinites don't respond to smoke and mirrors: They know the truth in their gut and have the courage to act on it.

That's why I know Wisconsin voters will send a loud and clear message across America that we're sick of business as usual in Washington, D.C.

Throughout the last part of 2003, polls across America showed that we heard Gov. Dean's message and were filled with hope that we really could take this country back. We, the people, deemed Gov. Dean electable.

2. Great letter
Let's hope the Wisconsin voters believe it and vote that way next week.

3. Two more from our Daily Paper

Primary system, media decrease voter choices

I have followed with interest the Journal Sentinel's coverage of the 2004 presidential race and am grateful to live in a country where we can all participate in the process. Our system of primaries and caucuses has one unfortunate side effect, however. Votes cast in the later primaries and caucuses seem to have less importance than those cast in the earlier ones.

Even though we are among the first states to hold a primary, already several candidates have dropped out as media attention is focused increasingly on the front-runner. The media covering my candidate of choice, Howard Dean, seem to have all but closed up shop. It almost seems as though the media are voting for us.

Having a real choice on the ballot is important. I feel sorry for family and friends in South Dakota whose primary is in June, by which time their vote might mean very little.

The electorate should be choosing the candidates

If voters continue to allow the corporate-controlled media and the corporate-controlled party machines to handpick our candidates, our future is bleak indeed.

The electorate does have the power to change the country's direction, but only if we take it. Instead, we say, "May the best men drop out soon so we don't have to listen to things we don't want to hear."
