One is forced to wonder. If Gonzo and WH did nothing wrong - why did they go to such lengths to
hide what they were doing? This is the elephant in the room that the Bush apologists are trying to ignore. If this WH and this AG did nothing wrong and in fact were simply following the practice of prior adminsistrations, why all of the concealment, shifting explanations, and outright lying about involvement of the AG and the WH???????

1. Such easy questions conservatives can't seem to answer
If she wasn't overt why the need to expose her identity?
If there were no underlying crime why did libby have to lie?
If bush didn't have any conversations with his staff about the attorney firings what conversations need to be protected by executive privilege?
If bush didn't know anything about the firings as dan bartlett had said, then why did bush approve them?

And our kids continue to die, our military is being grinded down and the world's view of us continues to worsen, all because of conservative values.

3. Of course Bush resents the fact that he has to answer any questions at all.
He is the DECIDER, after all. Deciders don't answer questions from non-deciders.

2. Trying to avoid publicity
I think this all had to do with the little known provision that Arlen Specter (tool of the administration that he is... tool being the key here) put into the "patriot" act allowing shrub and gonzo to appoint US attorneys to their posts without confirmation by the Senate. If they could dump some attorneys that they felt weren't towing the RNC line hard enough they could stick honest to God repuke ideologues into the positions and there isn't a damned thing that anybody could do until the next administration took over.

With these new attorneys in place shrub could have them do all of his dirty work. Focusing all their attention on democrats and the evils of abortion and marijuana smoking leaving the likes of Duke Cunningham and Jack Abramoff off the hook for Federal charges.

The nice thing about roaches (and republicans) is that as soon as you turn the light on they scatter for themselves and make it worse and worse. If they had of just admitted their dirty little deeds this would have been a back page story by now. Hopefully now it's become another spike in the coffin of this corrupt and disgusting administration. May everyone associated wit it rot in hell.
