Edwards cancels Iowa campaign appearance to be with Elizabeth for Dr's appointment
This could be nothing but a scheduling screw-up, or it could be serious. Apparently Elizabeth had a routine test done Monday and will have a follow-up appointment tomorrow. John has been with her for all these appointments in the past.

I hope this isn't bad news for Elizabeth.

3. THAT does NOT sound GOOOOD. Not to be Dilbert Downer, but it doesn't.
If there's no "there" there, one can do the test results thing ON THE PHONE.

Say, that biopsy? All CLEAR, dear!!! Gee, that blood test? All's well, Swell!!!

When you have to "come in and talk" that's often not good news.

I hope it isn't too bad, anyway. But it sounds not great, at a minimum.

16. That's not right.
After something as serious as she has been through, doctors want to sit face to face with the patients. They want to resolve any unexplained questions they may have. I really think she will have a good report.

22. Well, thank our lucky stars, you were RIGHT!
At least that is what my tee vee is telling me.

I still can't understand 'Why the cancelled fundraiser?'

It just seems odd that a "good news" appointment would be locked into a specific timeslot. It could have been shifted if there were no dire matters on the table.

Now I'm wondering if they didn't get enough butts in the seats at the fundraiser..and this was a graceful way of getting out of it. There's no worse signal about the health of a campaign than a lackluster and poorly attended fundraiser. Hell, the GOP "pads" theirs with staffers and hacks who get in for free, to make the 'critical mass' seem bigger than it is and to generate faux enthusiasm. They have a whole network of schmucks who call people up and offer seats at deep discounts if they don't sell out, and then, they make employees be seat fillers if they can't pack the hall.

But that's just my tactical side questioning the whole tale...

9. I've always thought that the greatest threat to an Edwards campaign would
be the status of Elizabeth's health.

I honestly don't think he could...or would...carry on if her health were in jeopardy.

Hope everything is OK....please, be OK....

11. The article says she has had similar follow ups in the past
so this could easily be the same thing. I am trying to be optimistic about this, though that is not my nature. There is nothing more unsettling as the suspense in waiting for test results like that. I went through this with both my parents. I feel for them tonight, waiting for tomorrow.

15. Elizabeth is the greatest!
John is too! I would certainly want my husband right there by my side if I were reaching a milestone like this. So far as we know it is simply that, a milestone. So, let's all think positive.

19. For the Edwards family, I hope the news is still good
A scheduling slip up seems like the most likely possibility. It may also have been that until Monday the date/time of the follow up appointment wasn't known. The article says that he has gone to all previous appointments - all of which have been good news. It may be that once she made the appointment, he cleared the calendar.

20. Prayers for Elizabeth Edwards
I'm glad John decided to take a break and be with her. I'm certain the Iowans who were hosting a house party for John were disappointed, but understood.

She's a great lady.

Then again, if it's something more involved, it would definitely scare me. I'm glad he's got his head screwed on right and is doing the right thing.
