Smart Bombs?
Edited on Tue Mar-20-07 10:01 PM by DiktatrW
How smart can our bombs be if four + years of killing with the most advanced fighter aircraft, tanks, missiles and one hundred and fifty thousand armed ground troops (not counting mercs) can not avenge our nation for the actions of twenty or so men with box knives? (lets not even go there)

I want a refund! (as I am sure an apology is out of the fucking question)

Simple logic would dictate that a continued failure to defeat a deprived militia with the most advanced equipment in the world would make one retreat our forces, or show the world that our advanced and overly expensive weapons are not effective. That doesn't seem good for future sales. Gotta keep an eye on the bottom line you know.

Five trillion spent building a multi-global autoclave cannot make us feel safe against a tin pot shit head with a poisonous pop gun. Perhaps another five trillion will make a difference. I doubt it.

The globalists have bit off more than they can chew, and they have chewed plenty so far. In an attempt to try an end run around sovereign governments with a corporate cover, the crumbs of humanity ground up have slipped from their fists and shown themselves to be a recombinant power not easily picked up and put away by hands too full to be removed from the cookie jar.

Brother can you spare a trillion, maybe two?

 :grr:

1. if we were in a war
rather than an occupation maybe you'd have a point

the war was over in a couple of months. we hammered them with all that high-tech shit, had hardly any casualties.

then we sent our guys in to be targets in shooting galleries, saving the high tech stuff for the next war, which has been temporarily delayed, but should be getting going any day now

3. Relative effect.
Can you imagine what the damage would be if targets were serviced using iron bombs instead of guided ones? They'd be dropping 4x 500lb bombs in a drop instead of just one.

4. Actually many more than that iron bombs and bombsites really are miserable
Targets serviced? That a phrase that I can not recall hearing ever before on DU (and yes I know extactly what it means and where it came from.

5. Well, I give current aiming systems a little credit.
Maybe more than I should, but what do I know, I'm not air force.

I am military though, hence the use of the phrase.

6. Check the current estimates of dumb bombs vs GPS Guided
even today its not 4 to 1. The real issue is also the collateral damage. If I need to drop 4-8 times more bombs to destroy the target, they are going to scatter and that can be a serious problem.
