Statement from Kerry on Clark
Statement from John Kerry on General Wesley Clark

February 11, 2004

For Immediate Release
Washington, DC –

Senator John Kerry issued the following statement tonight regarding General Wesley Clark:

“General Clark ran a campaign that he and his family should be proud of. He reminded Democrats of the importance of national security as we face a wartime president who has run a reckless foreign policy. He will no doubt continue to contribute to the life of our party and our country. We look forward to working with him in the months ahead to defeat George Bush and bring change to America.”

Maybe this is another sign of Kerry-Clark '04?

1. I would be more than happy
if Kerry made him Shadow Sec'y of State,
as Eric Alterman is suggesting.

2. Wasn't there another thread just like this?
Posing the same question?

Anyways, I think you're reading tea leaves. It sounds pretty standard issue, to me.

3. Clark can help send Bushie back to Texas
He is ready to serve his country if called.

"I will support our Party's nominee, to continue this campaign until we take back the White House next November. This soldier stands ready for duty. It's not going to be easy. So I've got one bit of advice for our nominee: give 'em hell and never retreat." - Wes Clark 2/10/2004

4. Finally!!!!
A reason to like Kerry. What a nice thing to say. Hell, I might get to liking this guy yet... except... he needs to apologize for the FLYERS! Oh, and explain in plain english why "junior lieutenant" is NOT an insult.

For a country in the middle of a war, some people sure don't know much about military titles.

5. I think it would be the ultimate "screw you" to
Rove and the media whores if Kerry DID pick Clark for VP.

They thought they had gotten rid of him... but he's back and this time they can't do a thing about it.

Kerry is not my fave... but I'd love for Clark to get some sweet revenge on those assholes!

7. Clark is a class act
and Kerry was right to respond this way. I think we will be hearing more from Clark in the future. (VP anyone?)

9. Evidently can't be Sec Defense
I've seen posts saying that ex-military personnel have to be off active duty for at least 10 years before becoming Sec Defense. Sounds like a good rule, on balance.

Kerry might want to apologize to Clark and his supporters for calling Clark a Republican in his January 9th press release.

...snip...
“If you like Dick Cheney so much that you want another Republican lobbyist in the White House, then Wes Clark may be your guy. But if you want a fighter with a thirty-five year track record of taking on the special interests, then John Kerry is your candidate,” said Kerry spokesman Mark Kornblau.
...snip...

http://www.johnkerry.com/pressroom/releases/pr_2004_0109c.html

It was issued by Kerry's campaign spokesman.

Whatever is on Senator Kerry’s website is legitimately considered approved by him or it shouldn't be there. There’s no hiding behind ghost "spokesmen" to blame for his lack of professionalism, honesty, and decency!

Clark was never a Republican. It was an underhanded dirty tactic.

14. I don't know, sure Kerry wouldn't like a Democrat for VP? I mean one
of Kerry's attack dogs called Clark a Republican, and Kerry didn't dispute it. I guess Kerry could lower him self and let Clark use his experience, leadership skills, and international standing work for Kerry. But, you know, if those things aren't important enough to put on top of the ticket, are you sure that Kerry needs them?
