I Didn't Love Jane FONDA Before, But Do Now
The first time I was aware of Jane FONDA, I was on an LST in Vietnam in 1967-68. We weren't "combat", just "supply" on my ship; we delivered pallets of cement, and bulldozers, and Coca Cola to an Army base. We also (since we were on a ship) got movies on some junk projector. I walked out of one movie. It was "Barefooot in the Park." Jane was SHRIEKING and making some dude's life miserable. This was before she got "political".

I didn't know what was going on.

Many years later, I heard about the "Hanoi Jane" crap. Today I saw her blast the crappy media whores, telling them where to get off about their attempting to trash KERRY by linking her to him. They don't dare. Thank you, Jane.

3. Wasn't she great! I had heard she went right-wing Christian.
So I had given up on her until I saw her tonight on the news. She was so clear and honest. It was great.

4. Wish She'd Give Up the Fundie Crap
But then, she appears to go through all these phases.

I have a theory about her: She craved her cold father's love. She has gone through all these phases, like she has been trying to find out which one would press the magic button for ol'Henry. Not in the sick sense, just in the child-lost sense, like, why-doesn't-Dad-love-me.

6. Jane Fonda is one of the saaviest, most elegant, gracious American women

alive today.

Few make me as proud as she does.

Now SHES a woman.

And what she did back in Vietnam, is the same thing those of us who are against the war are doing.

She was searching for the truth, trying to understand and find some meaning in a greed driven war, and yep she found some answers,

right next to the federal government, the CIA and the FBI, and of course they made her a scapegoat, and along with the media blew up her image like a hand grenade. They effectively tried to ruin her, and in many ways they did. Although, she is too strong a woman to ever allow that unfairness to dominate her.

What she was doing in the sixties was absolutely, inequivocably RIGHT, and she was lied about and skewered by a self-righteous, secretive media,

because Jane Fonda was learning too much about her government and they didnt like it.

7. Don't forget her mom committed suicide.
I don't remember if she was in the house at the time.

I do remember talking to a former visiting nurse who wound up in charge of Jane and Peter in the aftermath of the suicide. She remembered Jane as being very protective of Peter.

8. I understand her dad was the reason for the suicide
He was reportedly a terrible husband - to put it mildly. That was the reason Jane was so distant from him.

12. Even Bob Dylan went through a fundie phase.

I did notice the timing though, she became 'saved' and soon after, her and Ted split up.
