AWOL/Bad Press for * = Janet Boob Hearings, More Media Regs?
Is there a connection?

Think about it. Bush's media coverage has gone decidedly negative in the past month or so. Then suddenly, there's the Janet Jackson tasseled boob incident on the Super Bowl and the big media is being threatened with new prohibitive regulations, fines and possible loss of licenses. Her tassel-covered boob was no worse than things one regularly sees on prime time (think Las Vegas, CSI and others).

I think the memo went out in the media - we're dumping bush...he's become a liability and we're complicit in the illegal war and the bad economy. They got scared when Dean announced he would break up big media, so they took him out. But the Dean message served to expose bush, and with him, his sycophant media. So, he's out. The bushies are now fighting back. Message: we'll blow a big hole in your ability to compete with cable (no more T&A for the networks) and your profits (the public will go to cable for their T&A) if you don't go back to the war hero coverage.

Anyone else sense this is one of the undiscussed subplots of these times?

NB: I started this thread in GD, but it was locked by a mod because I mentioned Dean. My bad. The mod suggested it be posted in GD 2004, so here it is.
