You people are MORE disgusting than repugs. You are worse because you SAW what that goddamned mantra bought us last election and you have the nerve to pull the same shit AGAIN?

IMO - Once the primary is over - anybody here spouting that 'Kerry is the Same as Bush' crap should be tombstoned like a repuke. They are no different.

How can you people say this shit in the face of what Bush as done? How can you say that and sleep at night?

I am NOT a Kerry "fan" - But I am not dumb enough to flirt with that 'Kerry = Bush' line of thinking here.

Bitch about Kerry all you want. AFTER the election.

1. Most people aren't saying that.
Most people are saying that Kerry is a cowardly weakling who didn't have the nerve to stand up for us and give us some leadership when it counted over the past two years, and doesn't deserve our support now.

2. This is a Democratic party whether you like it or not.
Get over it.

Dated Dean. Married Kerry. Woke up with Bush. AHHHHHH!

FYI, I don't think Kerry is the same is Bush, but he sure as hell votes like him.

14. How can you say this?
Kerry has been a consistent liberal vote for two decades for us. There are exceptions, but for the most part he's one of the good guys. I'm not a Kerry hardcore, but people are really getting over the top with this stuff. Good Lord, his record is more liberal than Kennedy's. He filibustered drilling in ANWR and exposed government corruption for years and years. He rallied veterans against the War in Vietnam while Bush was doing coke and stumbling in and out of Texas saloons.

And if one more person says he's a failure for voting for PATRIOT, I may hurl. Keep in mind only one senator voted against it in the context in which it passed (when *something* had to be done) and that was Feingold who didn't have to run for reelection until fall '04. Even Wellstone, Kennedy, Byrd, all of our good guys voted for the damn thing. So did Edwards. Now in retrospect, we can see parts were overreaching and should be repealed or allowed to expire. I have a lot more confidence that'll happen with a Dem in office than Bush.

A lot of House Dems (62 or 63, I believe) did vote against PATRIOT, but we should all know that the way redistricting is done odds are most of them didn't have to worry about reelection anyway. Incumbent House members get reelected 95% of the time, and it was 98% in 2002 after the post-2000 redistricting. Senators have to play by a whole different set of rules.

Bah.

17. You forgot NCLB and IWR.
And then the non-vote on Medicare. Plus all that lobbyist money.

18. And
NCLB was Ted Kennedy's bill with bipartisan support. He should have voted for it.

IWR vote has been rehashed here time and again, and I fail to see how anybody thinks Bush lived up to the requirements in it before waging war. I don't for a second believe Kerry would have handled that situation as Bush did.

Don't you think you know how he would have voted on Medicare? Is there really any doubt? It would have been with the party, but still wouldn't have done any good. The margin was too great to overcome.

And as for lobbyist money, that may be a fair criticism. But, at least it all came as hard money with disclosure rather through other channels. Both Kerry and Edwards have been very good about that in their careers as I understand it.

3. Get your Hannity talking points here
Have Kerry supporters been too much on the high road to complain? I was, but that's changing. I'm real tired of walking on eggs for other supporters and their sensitivities, while Kerry trashing increases.

Bush is the problem, not John Kerry.

5. Why?
Kerry is no Bush. To the contrary, I think he is far better than Bush on every issue. However, why should DU censor dissenting views?

6. While I think you are asking people to take a look at what they
are doing by trashing the most likely winner, I think nobody will listen if you call them stupid.

7. Welcome to the life of a frontrunner supporter
The same crap was spewed about Dean all over DU and some of those most guilty of spewing it were Kerry supporters. I'll offer you the same advice your comrades in the Kerry camp offered me...get thicker skin.

And since when does anything we say at DU matter in the real world?

If it did, Dean or Kucinich would be sailing right along to the White House.

16. EXCELLENT post.
Imperfect he may be, but Kerry has shown courage and character in the past, and promises to be head-and-shoulders better than Bush. When he wins, OH how I will gloat and rub it in repugs' faces.
