Poll question: If The Dems Lose This Presidential Election, You... (See Choices)
I've voted straight Dem all of my life. First vote was for Jerry Brown for CA Gov. in 1974. After they passed the 26th Amendment to the Constitution giving 18 year olds the right to vote. I've been a good Democrat, and pretty much have voted 'straight ticket' every time.

My old man fought as a Marine in both WWII and Korea. Later became a journalist, and a lifelong Democrat. Was buds with Joe Rosenthal of Iwo Jima Flag Raising Picture Fame. Was friends with JFK's Press Secretary Pierre Salinger. Ate dinners with both Governor's Brown, etc, etc, etc...

I'm not sure what he'd make of what we Dems are, or have become, and in some ways, I'm glad he's not here to see the crap that passes for American politics these days. Both Dem and rePuke. He passed away in 1975. And, I'm not sure this is what he fought for. But then again, he was a tougher bird than I, and could probably tell me tales if he were still around.

But I know that I'm just about at the end of my rope. And if we can't get Bush out of office this cycle, if we Liberal\Progressive\Gay\Female\Minority voters have to 'hush up' one more time, in what ends up a losing effort anyway...

Then I will be severing my ties with what used to be my party, and going independent, or third party, or whatever it takes to keep global corporatism from eating my home, my country, and my way of life.

You???

1. My feelings are complicated, and it's much too early
to know how I'll feel in November if the Democratic nominee doesn't win. So much depends on what happens between now and then.

I will consider leaving the country. I'm working on getting Irish citizenship, which will help. Maybe, because I have two sons who will still be here, I'll just try to fly under the radar of our fascist government, and try to live quietly somewhere that I won't be noticed.

As disgusted as I often am with the Democratic Party, it's hard to see an alternative.

4. Yep, I Hear Ya !!!
"As disgusted as I often am with the Democratic Party, it's hard to see an alternative."

But what if enough of the left... left.

Then turned around and offered to caucus with the Dems, you know, form an alliance that would be suitable to both.

May be star gazing here, but if we were to form coalitions with the Dems as needed, we might keep them from going totally corporate.

We might not have anything to give them... except power.

I dunno, could be the Zinfandel talkin at this point, LOL!!!

3. Listen to Clinton
Be moderate on taxes and corporations. If the country is making money then they will vote Dem on social issues. People always want to help people if they can.

8. I'll always be a democrat. Party of the people.
It's not perfect, nothing is. But it's the greatest party out there, and I'm very proud to be a Democrat.

13. My dad is a retired union man who remembers the McCarthy era.
He says things were very bad then, and we did not get over it in a hurry, just because McCarthy died.

He also grew up during the Depression. When times were bad, some people became extremist, looking for anyone to blame. He remembers the Klan coming as far north as Minnesota.

It will get worse if shrub is re-elected. I think we will have worldwide depression. People will starve. It will be worse than anything he lived through.
