Anyone watching Hannity and colmes tonight: open season on Kerry
(reposted here since I put it in GD by mistake.)

Hannity and John Kasich going after Kerry for flip-flopping on Iraq (voting for the resolution/voting against the 87 billion), flip-flopping on the death penalty for terrorists (showed tape from '96). colms and Bob Beckel on the defense.

Did they just ramp up the attack tonight on Kerry? Is he open game on National Security since General Clark is gone now? Do we get to watch these attacks for the next EIGHT MONTHS?

20. Yes I did
That's what they do. Quit worrying about what they do and worry about what you/we do. Which is knock on doors, make phone calls, set the record straight, win one vote at a time. I have confidence that JK, the Kerry family, Max Cleland, the Veteran's Brigade, firefighters, unions, etc., will answer all these questions in the media and the American people will see the truth. They have so far, so I don't worry about it.

35. The people who have voted thus far
are party activist Dems.

I don't think any thing the Repubs throw at Kerry will stick with these people; they seem to have made up their minds...they want Kerry.

But the election will be won among moderates & disenchanted Repubs.
What will months of this crap do to the feelings of these swing voters?

10. Please
There is no room for doom and gloom, unless you really want Bush for another four years.

I can't imagine someone getting down about what "they said"

You have to respect their opinion for their opinion to matter.

I do not repsect their opinion.

showed the picture we have seen here.

Then Hannity says: It was wrong to be associated with someone who gave aid and comfort to our enemies.

THis is going to be fun!

Thats why Cleland has been taking odd jobs here and there. Now campaigning for Kerry. I guess the repugs won't know how to deal with the double whammy Kerry/Cleland.

What did they have on Cleland anyways?

17. Come on Jim, it's not that simple
If Clark was the man right now Hannitty would be screaming about Rep. fundraisers, early support for Iraq, the "I would have voted for IWR" quote.

Hannitty and fuckhead will skewer anyone who isn't George W Bush.

21. But you don't think
an interview gaffe bobble, is the same as a vote for IWR. Clark doesn't have votes to attack, oooooohhhhh I don't want to go there. I just want to point out how these attacks have suddenly picked up, coincidentally, just when Clark is out of the race. The smart democratic strategists wanted Kerry to have to weather this shit for 8 months! yeeeeeaaaaarrrggghh! :argh:

26. Jim, and I Have a lot of respect for Gen. Clark, BUT...
He said he would have voted for IWR. He advised a Democrat who was running for Congress to say that she would vote for it. He was doing Republican fundraisers. He was praising the Bush Administration in 2002.

They would have skewered him, just as they'll try to skewer Kerry, or Edwards, or Dean.

29. The only clear evidence about Clark and IWR
is in his Testimony to Congress. These off the record interview snippets that even the reporters couldn't all report the same can be squared with his testimony, same with the advice to the Congressional candidate. Here let me show you:

STATEMENT OF
GENERAL (RETIRED) WESLEY K. CLARK
U.S. ARMY

BEFORE THE
HOUSE ARMED SERVICES COMMITTEE
UNITED STATES HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

SEPTEMBER 26, 2002

The critical issue facing the Unites States now is how to force action against Saddam Hussein and his weapons programs without detracting from our focus on Al Qaeda or efforts to deal with other immediate, mid and long-term security problems. In this regard, I would offer the following considerations:

- The United States diplomacy in the United Nations will be further strengthened if the Congress can adopt a resolution expressing US determination to act if the United Nations will not. The use of force must remain a US option under active consideration. The resolution need not at this point authorize the use of force, but simply agree on the intent to authorize the use of force, if other measures fail. The more focused the resolution on Iraq and the problem of weapons of mass destruction, the greater its utility in the United Nations. The more nearly unanimous the resolution, the greater its impact in the diplomatic efforts underway.

Edited on Wed Feb-11-04 11:36 PM by sgr2
You said that Clark would have been above criticism. That simply isn't true. Kerry is getting criticized on bullshit. Clark would have been criticized on bullshit. Edwards will be criticized on bullshit. Dean gave them a bunch of bullshit to criticize him on.

Anyways, I'm sorry that your candidate is out of the race. I had a lot of respect for him. Hopefully as time goes by you'll join us in taking out Herr Bush Administration.

34. Not that you and I will agree but my point was that
an vote for IWR is a solid debating point not B.S. Whereas the Clark gaffe is B.S.

I will be there in November and I hope Clark will be on the ticket, I will also look for ways to change the primary scheduling by supporting any such initiatives to do so, because this 8 months of hangin out there for our guy is not good no matter what the strategists say.

27. Not a done deal. Things turn on a dime
especially political things. Clark's departure could cause a shift in support for other candidates, and there's certainly enough anti-Kerry sentiment (judging from this forum) to benefit Edwards. It's not over yet.

28. But Kerry has flip-flopped on Iraq and other issues
that's why I think he is such a weak candidate.

All the GOP has to do is to use Kerry against Kerry until the independent voters decide that it is better to stick with a flawed Bush than it is to take a chance with a man whose word is worthless.

What we saw on Hannity and Colmes was mild compared to what is coming. Kerry has a long record of contradictory statements and votes.

Since I also supported Clark's candidacy, I was sad he dropped out and I wouldn't want my message to be interpreted as trying to "recruit" you to Kerry. I really feel for the hardcore Clark supporters - I want to send you all a card saying "I'm sorry for your loss"

I wish you the best in your decision on who to support in the future, whomever it may be.

40. open season started a long time ago
Kerrys flip-flops are not trumped up BS, it's all right there in black and white (or on tape). The disgust shown to those on the left or right who point out these seems to be misplaced.

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real ..." - Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003
