Do you think they've announced too early?

"Some people" say they'll be all used up long before the primary season - that people will be come sick of them, and thus open the door to a late comer.

"Some people" say the lead will be very strongly held and result in an unbeatable juggernaut that will steamroll across the country starting with the first primaries and never looking back.

Although "all used up" would be nice ;)

2. They have no other choice

Nobody takes public financing anymore and they have to have approximately $100 million raised before the Iowa Caucus to be viable. Super Tuesday is on February 5th this year.

If they could get away with it they wouldn't announce until October to avoid the media scrutiny. But this isn't 1992 anymore and financially they can't afford to do that.
