So I stopped by Kerry's NYC office tonight.

I work in the city and their office is a subway ride away. So I went in to say hi. I am not supporting Kerry. I just wanted to go in and shake a couple hands. I mean we are on the same team. I told her that I was with the Clark campaign. I then asked who is responsible for Long Island. It's a 23 year old girl. I talk to her about the campaign some. She asks if I want to volunteer. I said maybe, but I am not sure yet. I said I would gladly poll watch on election day. I think it's every democrats duty to poll watch.

Anyway, She gives me a form. She says I can pledge my support to Kerry. I filled it out, but I don't sign the pledge part. I told her that I wasn't ready for that. She says that Gephardt dropped out and endorsed Kerry within a week. She also went on to backhand complement Clark while promoting Kerry. I said so what. I wasn't ready. She got pissed. I said I was offering her something and please let me do that for now. I am not ready to give everything to Kerry. I am not sure he is the best yet. Poll watching is such a basic function. If she has a problem with that, I can help another campaign. I don't owe them anything.

OK, that's my rant. Their office is decent sized. It's not big enough to run a campaign in NY, but it's not terrible. They have lots of offices with glass windows. The offices are on the outside. There is a section of computer stations in the middle of the offices. The atmosphere was electric. These people were charged up and motivated. It's good to have them on our side.

1. Doesn't sound very welcoming
I guess Kerry better not make her the Welcome Wagon Lady.

You would think they would be happy to talk since we are all on the same side.

3. Very Interesting
You mean to say there is a world where people don't just sit on their butts all day whining about how we cant possibly win, but instead go out and work? What a concept!

5. Well, I've worked on campaigns with some terrible people
So one bad apple doesn't ruin the whole bunch.

6. She was young, and some people get fanatical
I would imagine it could approach a cult-like environment. No slam on Kerry supporters (I am one), just that when you get a bunch of people focused on the same narrow goal, normal conduct may go out the window.

But I have never worked on a campaign, so what do I know.

7. For not having worked on a campaign
you sure hit the nail on the hard, and I'm not being sarcastic one bit.

8. That doesn't seem electric at all.
She was pressuring you when you made it quite clear that you didn't want to join the Kerry campaign yet.

If you want electricity go with Dean.

12. My goodness that sounds kind of "picky" to me. She was nice and didn't

trash Clark. I agree I wouldn't sign some damned pledge when I walked into any Campaign Headquarters (what's next? Urine Samples?) but I wonder why you didn't just stay and get over the fact that they weren't loving and kissing up to you?

Isn't it a little soon for you to be scouting, anyway? We all need time to grieve for our fallen candidates. It might just be way to soon for you to be doing this, if you feel you need to rant over just visiting another candidates Campaign Headquarter's office.
