Subject: Wesley Clark's speech cut off!

To Whom It May Concern:

I am furious that you cut off a patriot and democratic contender's farewell
speech in the crass manner that you did.
You can be certain that I will hold your network and your sponsor's
responible for this outrageous act.

You have proven yourselves to be guilty of the worst kind of yellow
journalism. Why was Senator Lieberman, who by any account performed much
more poorly in his Presidential bid than Wesley Clark, given air time for
his entire speech and a general and patriot was not?

I shall do all within my power to see that this matter does not rest here.
You have lost any credibility that you may have once had in my eyes.

ON EDIT: Please bear in mind that I wrote this right after they interrupted Clark's farewell speech and I was SO pissed. In retrospect, I should have written a letter with a wee bit less hyperbole... Oh well, only human. But what is with the response?

1. It's probably real.
As in not an automated response. But it might have been someone who works for Aaron Brown rather than Aaron Brown himself who sent the e-mail.

2. Aaron Brown once had credibility in your eyes?
You're far kinder to the dweeb than I would have been. Otherwise, I agree with your message 666%

3. Couple of things about Aaron Brown

First off, he often sends terse responses to emails. It is usually futile to try to hold him responsible for CNN's editorial decisions.

Secondly, at least he READS his emails. I can't imaging media whores like Paula Zahn or Candy Crowley even bothering.

4. At least
It wasn't the two words I was thinking of (Begins with "F", ends with "you").

5. You consider the phrase 'my goodness' to be rude?
Edited on Wed Feb-11-04 08:26 PM by Feanorcurufinwe
I didn't like the way they cut off the speech either, but 'my goodness' is not rude.

8. Rude in the sense of condescending.
It was really no response at all.

I took 'my goodness' to mean something like 'you have no issue and your puny voice means nothing'.

14. Try writing back with less heated rhetoric.

You know, the whole flies, honey, vinegar thing...

7. Aaron Brown doesn't have the control to cut people off.
Give him a break....He's been fairer to the General than anyone else.
I wanted to write him the other day to thank him.

15. That's what I was going to post
Of all the media whores out there, Aaron Brown has been the Most fair; had Clark on many times, acted with respect, never made snide comments, & really seemed to like him.

Also Tim Russert had him on, I believe 3 times, & did very good interviews.

Tom Brokaw was fair to him in 1 debate(last I believe)

And Keith Olberman has had him on several times, & been quite respectful.

The worst: I'll leave out Fox, because they don't even count.

Tucker Carlson has ridiculed him countless times on Crossfire.
Chris Matthews, let it be known he had contempt for Clark

Pretty bad: Judy Woodruff, Jeff Greenfield, Paula Zahn, Gloria Borger & Alan Murray(CNBC)

Mixed Review: Wolf Blitzer was very fair when interviewing Wes, less good as part of election coverage.

10. He and I had a running arguemnt in email a while back
It was about his bias. The emails sounded just like he speaks. I'm sure it was him as he was the same asshole as he is on the air.

11. "My goodness" is rude in the context used.
I've heard Aaron Brown interviewed and he is an asshole.

17. It sprang out of his bias about Iraq
Something about his point of view expressed on the air not being unbiased ticked me off one evening. He kept insisting that I didn't understand things. A real snooty attitude. But it was odd how his written word sort of sounded like he does when he speaks.

Send him a note. I bet he writes back to lots of people. Just do it when he's on the air so he might see it after his program ends.

16. Not to side with Brown,
but one thought I'd offer to you after having written inummerable letters to editorialists and op/ed columnists. You finished your letter with a statement, and a statement which is critical.

I could be wrong, but you'd probably get a more substantive response if you'd finished with "why the hell did you do this?" than with "You have lost any credibility that you may have once had in my eyes." In the former case, they have a reason to convince and cajole you, in the latter they say "why bother?" Your mind is already made up.

Just thoughts, keep fighting.

18. Brown sent me an email
I got a reply from Brown once, too. Not many write back. He also took a minute to tell me a story of something that happened to him in Seattle before he went to CNN. I have really grown to like him. He truly had to "grow" on me. But now, when he's not there and someone else is filling in - it's just not the same.
