Clark supporter analogy for the sensitivity-impaired.
Edited on Wed Feb-11-04 05:29 PM by Wife_of_a_Wes_Freak
Think back to high school... did you ever get dumped five days before the prom? Well, that's what it felt like to be a Clark supporter last night. We love him, we bear him no ill will, but we're eating tons of ice-cream, and laying around in our pajamas.

But since we seem to be everyone's "catch of the day", bombarded with "join OUR camp" panderings, let me take it ONE step further...

Imagine you're a cheerleader, and one of the starters on the football team breaks up with you five days before prom...

...the all of a sudden every geek in school starts asking you out, one after another, figuring on such short notice, maybe they actually have a bat's chance in hell of getting you to go out with them now.

THAT'S what today feels like. So guess what, geeks? This cheerleader is still going to the prom, but she's going stud. I don't need a man's arm to dance on. After the coronation, we'll talk. Until then, show some class and back off.

1. I agree, but no matter who goes to the prom
they'd be stupid not to take Clark with them.

2. I'm a guy - so I'm not eating any ice cream

I'm just going around school starting rumors about the cheerleader and the phys ed instructor. :)

Oh, and I dumped HER, of course. :)

8. Yeah, well
... I heard that the science professor belongs to a secret society of blood-letters, and that the secretary once got arrested for protesting the rising cost of pencils at a local office supply store.

13. For a while, anyway
Then I'll be a "Wes Clark Democrat for" somebody.

:)

I'm not letting go, no siree. I just want to know more from him, what he's going to do, where he's going -- before I decide to support a candidate for nomination. I'm voting Clark in the primary.

35. OK I won't wave and say welcome. I'll just say
I love your new name in honor of Wes. I almost feel like changing my name to something that includes Clark...in his memory. But I will never include any other candidate in my name.

So I guess Anti Bush is something I'll keep till we get rid of him and bury him 10 feet under. Maybe then I can change to something like Clark for VP...SS...SD. I'd be so pleased for him to have any of those titles. I will be almost as angry and upset as I am now..if he gets nothing. If our party doesn't recognize him for a cabinet post...I'll never vote D. again! I'll stay home!

4. The funeral analogy is also a good one....
Hitting on the widow at the funeral of her husband.

Or vice versa, of course!

Though, death as a comparison is probably a little overboard....

;-)

10. I wasn't here last night to see exactly what you're referring to
But if it helps any at all.....

I donated money to both Clark and Dean. I knew that my Mom would never vote for Dean, but she told me last night that she did go out and vote for Clark yesterday (at least I managed to get her that far away from Bush*). I've been more active in the Dean campaign, but I voted for Clark yesterday and my spouse voted for Dean.

And I'm not still in my pj's nor eating ice cream, but I'm a little sad today, too.

15. Last night's pandering was nauseating
First we had certain Edwards supporters telling us that Clark needed to get out of the race so that Edwards had a chance at going after Dean...

Within two hours, before one single vote was announced, the vultures swooped, telling us we should really support THEIR guy now, because he was SO much like Clark.

Hello? What part of "compassion" don't these people understand?

12. I always prefered the Soccer captain who wrestled and ran track in the off
seasons.
But I know what you mean. I did think it was really nice of your campaign to put a open letter to Dean supporters on the website a few days ago. That didn't bother me. Maybe if he were dropping out it would have.

20. Honestly, it bothered me a bit
I think asking any supporter to drop their candidate in order to strengthen the support of another is despicable... which is why I have so much trouble with this premature coronation of Kerry. If passion dicates allegience, then compromise dictates weakened moral character.

16. You have all my sympathy--Clark raised important issues
And gave hope to so many of you--and it is tragic that he didn't do better.

I believe that the Dean and Clark campaigns appealed most direcetly to the hopeful among us,

We now see, in retropsect, that these two campaigns had more in common than was once admitted.

I also believe that we were manipulated into opposing camps by our common enemy--the DLC and the DNC.

That is what makes the apparent annointment of Kerry so disappointing, at least to me.

My advice to you and your husband is to go out to dinner, rent a good movie, have a few drinks, and start thinking about the future.

We still have time to get our country back, at least for the next generation.

Kerry is not the man to bring that change--of that I am sure.

But there will be future campaigns for all of us.

23. I'm not so sure Dean is out of it yet
But I sure wish he hadn't joined the geeks today in urging us to come a-runnin'. At least let the body cool, ya know?

Thanks, as always, Ed. I appreciate your kind words, and feel your disillusionment.

34. Can we at least Dance?

Not sure if I even want to anymore though. I feel so let down emotionally. It was so nice to dream of a future with President Clark leading our nation. Kind of like a school girlish dream thinking about how beautiful our children (with the first girl I ever kissed) would be. Now, I have to settle for the geeky girl with glasses. But I dated the cheerleader and married the "geeky girl" and have never felt like I settled. I have been happier than I ever imagined I could be in life. Hopefully it will be the same - but for now, I am depressed and cannot see the future through the disillusionment of tears.
