WHAT IF it turns out Bush served and did a great job
Lets say they convince the American people that Bush was the best guardsman who ever guarded. Then what happens to the democrats?

1. Bush needs to produce his "band of brothers"
who are conspicuously absent.

12. I'm 100% sure it won't happen
but even if it does he's fucked up everything else so bad he can't get re-elected- unless he replaces petroleum with water as our source of energy.

2. If Bush Served and Did a Great Job
There should be a little more evidence of the fact. That's the winning attitude.

6. "what happens to the democrats?"
why would anything "happen"? The Democratic party isn't built and founded upon Bush's Nat'l Guard service or lack thereof. I don't see where it would do a damned thing. He's still the worst president we've ever had, regardless of what he did during Vietnam

8. this is not about service necessarily,
it's about lying.

The Bush Regime is now in the process of being caught lying.

How can we trust them? They've lied about WMD, Iraq, and even about Bush's guard service...

This is just ONE piece of evidence, and it happens to be a symbolically great one.

But if it goes away, there are plenty of other areas where the Regime has lied through its teeth in ways much more dangerous and fundamental than the national guard issue.

Just look at this issue as icing on the cake. Even if there's no icing, there's still a cake.

14. One of the shrub's NG buddies just showed up I 'm not sure
of his name but he is military and will in all likelihood be the get out of jail free card for the shrub. Wake up people we've been suckered, now Kerry doesn't have an issue and will look foolish. Expect the media to turn ever so little at a time against Kerry with
a new question for him to rebut each week. The DLC/DNC/RNC wins again.

16. A NG buddy published a letter today
Figures it was in the Wash Slimes. but it looks legit.

http://www.washtimes.com/op-ed/20040210-082910-8424r.htm

'Bush and I were lieutenants'

George Bush and I were lieutenants and pilots in the 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (FIS), Texas Air National Guard (ANG) from 1970 to 1971. We had the same flight and squadron commanders (Maj. William Harris and Lt. Col. Jerry Killian, both now deceased). While we were not part of the same social circle outside the base, we were in the same fraternity of fighter pilots, and proudly wore the same squadron patch.

It is quite frustrating to hear the daily cacophony from the left and Sen. John Kerry, Massachusetts Democrat, et al., about Lt. Bush escaping his military responsibilities by hiding in the Texas ANG. In the Air Guard during the Vietnam War, you were always subject to call-up, as many Air National Guardsmen are finding out today. If the 111th FIS and Lt. Bush did not go to Vietnam, blame President Johnson and Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara, not lowly Lt. Bush. They deliberately avoided use of the Guard and Reserves for domestic political calculations, knowing that a draftee only stirred up the concerns of one family, while a call-up got a whole community's attention.

22. You mean that you hope its legit
Once again he is vouching for a period of Bush's "service" that is not in dispute. Either way I doubt many people will base their decisions on this issue. Its almost meaningless to me compared to what Bush has don't in the last 3 years.

26. 1970-1971, in Texas
This doesn't answer anything. And Bush said he went into the National Guard because he didn't want to get his eardrum shot out or go to Canada. So Col. Campenni better talk to Bush about avoiding Vietnam first.

The rest of the letter is 101 excuses as to what could explain the absence of records on Bush in Alabama. Because it's obviously clear to Col Campenni that Bush didn't show up.

So now the question becomes, if Bush didn't show up, why is he lying about it now?

stop praying for Bush to win. The guy that showed up on local media served with Bush in Texas. Big deal.....no one is disputing that.

I think this is a losing issue to push that will go nowhere.

Other than that I resent your implication that I am "praying for Bush to win".

27. I read it again
101 reasons why someone may not have records on their service. Which means the good Col. knows without a doubt that Bush didn't show up.

28. This is a bet we can't lose...
The entire reason the Bush people are so defensive on this is because they know we've got them on it. Bush got into the guard thanks to a favor from his Senator Daddy. Bush got out of the guard likely from the same favors. He missed a year of duty and as he said "cut a deal with the military to get out 8 months early." Who cuts a deal with the military when we're involved in the most violent war since World War II at that moment?

Bush is caught dead to rights on this one and he can't weasel out of it. It will play huge that someone who doesn't respect military service and went AWOL is the one forcing our kids to die in war.
