Sam Brownback is running for President and he is taking the yellow brick road to the White House
http://www.c-span.org/watch/cs_cspan_rm.asp?Cat=TV&Code=CS

That seems to be his lead off line.

This following dropping Phyllis Schafly and Paul Weyrich's names.

Says we need to WIN the war on terrorism

Says it is radical muslims who are against us

It's on their websites if you don't believe him go on their websites and see for yourself (please every in the audience PLEASE go on their websites, join up, PLEASE ;-) )

Says he likes the troops
"It's good that they are serving"

--crowd looks like their flight is late and they are watching the departures screen--

Says everyone showing up for a job needs to have a social security number (they don't?) and that the employers should be told what numbers are good and which ones are bad.

(holds us the tax code) "This doesn't work. It should be taken out behind the barn and killed with a dull axe." Supports the flat tax.

--crowd responds as if their tooth pain has subsided a bit--

Wants privatized social security

--SERIOUSLY they just shot to a young woman reading a book  --

Says we need to get spending under control. Something about Reagan as an example. Now using farming comparisons to illustrate his point.

"Deal or no deal" as a means of government (one bill at a time no amendments -to reduce spending)

Holding up something made of corn (more pandering to Iowa)
"We need to be more dependent on the Midwest not the Middle East"

"Grass for gas and I am not talking about marijuana"

"American sized goals" Reduce deaths by cancer in ten years (dead silence not a peep)

Life begins at conception. All life should be protected. "Life begins at conception. It is biological not idealogical. If any of you had been killed at that early stage you won't be here right now" (Actual quote)

1. Use reagan as an example?
Are we supposed to go to South America and kill priests, nuns and children. Is that what brownback wants us to do?

Reduce deaths by cancer? How? Scientific research or more dollars to religious organizations? Embryonic stem cell research or snake handling?

2. At least we'd have a President
who doesn't have to depend on others to fix an election.

3. It's funny, but it's also not funny.
Brownback is a likely favorite of the hard-right evangelical mega-preachers--to whom he's desperately pandering. That, all by itself, could get him the nom if Rudy and McCain sufficiently self-destruct. If Brownback wins the nom (and it's possible), we'd find ourselves stuck in a pitched ideological battle for the soul of the country. Again. Jeebus.

4. Brownback would get about 15% of the popular vote
And he wont win a single state, even Kansas believe it or not.

5. He could win Utah, maybe, and Idaho. Maybe Alabama and Mississippi.
Possibly South Dakota and Texas. But that would be about it, barring the unimaginable.

6. I actually disagree. I think he would get upwards of six or seven states.
Alabama, Georgia, Nebraska, Kansas, Utah, Idaho, and Alaska. He could also conceivably get Indiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, South Carolina, Oklahoma, and Texas.

7. He's actually Catholic
but he seems to run on a fundie theme. He is lacking in the charisma dept. We need not worry.
