Is the right wing getting even more dangerous?
For quite a while, I have avoided practically all of the corporate media. I do not watch television news and do not read any of the right wing rags that masquerade as newspapers, magazines, etc. And I have totally avoided any of the hate radio and tv broadcasts that I used to sample to "know the enemy." The net and its multiple sources provide enough information on what is going on.

I took this action in order to lessen my stress and try to climb out of the depressing hole that exposure to the shit produced. It did work.

Last night, in surfing the channels, I accidently went past Sci-Fi and came across (on CSpan) the CPAC obscenity. I could only stand a few minutes of it, but that little exposure was enough to spark some thoughts.

Back when I was "hooked" on all the usual suspects, the extreme language, hate and attitude was pretty bad. But not totally off the wall (relatively speaking). That seems to have changed, for the worse.

D'Souza and Spencer were "debating" something which came down to "is there any such thing as a good Muslim?" For what it's worth, D'Souza was saying (a qualified) "yes" and Spencer was saying "no".

Two things struck me. First, they were like children who would not let the other get in the last word. Each kept asking to rebut the other even when the moderator tried to keep them to the format. And Spencer kept rolling his eyes and shaking his head, practically foaming at the mouth. He made D'Souza seem semi-sane, if you ignored what he (D'Souza) was actually saying.

The second thing was the vitriol that each expressed toward Democrats and liberals. That brought to my mind the thought that they (the right) have turned into something akin to a cornered animal. Now that they can pretend that they are the party out of power, they have absolutely no incentive to pretend to act (or talk) in a "productive" manner. It will be hate and anger, 24/7. There will be no limit on the tactics they will use to undermine any attempt to correct the disaster of the last six years.

What really worries me is that the 30%ers will gloam onto this further radicalization of the right even more than they already have and become even more dangerous. While in nominal power, they had to at least appear responsible (to the ignorant) in their words and deeds. Now, they do not have to. They will show what a real opposition is capable of, and more.

I feel we are in a very precarious time. The right will do even more to achieve their goals. The fact that many are abandoning * because he is not "conservative enough" for them is really frightening.

Unless we recognize this threat "surge" and act accordingly, we could be in even more trouble than we already are.

1. RW neocon conservatives are the MOST deadly and destructive........
entities on earth. THEY can never ever be trusted about anything and will always try to undermine the will of the majority of people in support of their greedy evil causes and agenda. The RW neocons are single handedly taking down our country and are an even greater threat going forward.

2. Yes, if we let them, the right-wing authoritarians will turn this country into a fascist state.
They want to destroy this democracy. They'll do absolutely anything to do it. Nobody's safe.

Start googling for terms like REX 84 and Cable Splicer. That's what they want - totalitarianism. Their defeat at last November's elections is only a setback for them, they're still going full steam ahead.

And thank you, by the way, for your concern.

Never Give Up.

4. I think you're right.
I have been astonished at the vitriol they've spewed, with impunity, for the last 30 years. The sheep have remained asleep as their nation is stolen from them. What I find particularly frustrating is that "our side" has let them get away with it without so much as a peep (well, there has been the occasional peep that, often as not, has been slapped down by "ours"). It is like the class war, only one side is fighting it, the other keeps denying it is happening at the same time they're dying en masse.

BTW, I think you meant to use glom, not gloam.
:kick:

5. The short answer is yes
Many of them can feel the reins of power slipping from their bloody grasp, and they know that the piper is about to stop playing the tune they've called for the last six years and expect to be paid. They keep roaring for one more chorus, just another three months or six months to give their failed policies one last chance, but their time is over.

They will be even more dangerous from now until we can pry their greedy hands off the levers of power at last. They will probably force us to break their fingers (metaphorically speaking) to do it finally. They didn't seize power just to give it back with a shrug and a smile and say "Okay, you caught us." They'll shriek and spit, whine and moan about getting their due recompense for their sins. Ultimately, I predict that they will resort to shitting and pissing themselves, hoping for a last second getaway when we are temporarily revulsed by their utter lack of personal dignity.

Let us be strong. Let us be resolute. Let us see the job through to completion. We failed to do it last time, back in the Nixon years, and we've got many of the same little rat-faced criminals fucking up our country and the world again. Let us put them away for good this time.

6. How do you figure?
They're Bonapartists, they'll be as dangerous as they need to be. If you challenge the bourgeoisie's position, you will understand exactly how dangerous. At any rate, the RW of this country isn't fascist, but it's certainly virulently reactionary on its best days.

The real development now is the class warfare upon the workers of the world. Exploitation and deprivation are at their highest levels in decades, and are growing daily. The workers, yet again, have nothing to lose but their chains, let us hope they start to fight back.

The right wing will be more dangerous, because they are never brought to account for their treacherous repressive actions. After six years of absolute tyranny and debasing of the constitution, six years of secrecy and lies, very few in the political world want to hold them accountable.

No one is trying to impeach, sensor, or jail them for their crimes; or at least create an accurate history of their mis deeds. The attitude is such, that this administration is only incompetent bla bla bla. No one remembers the secret history of the Reagan and Bush I administrations, where many of the same players and much of the same arrogance, wreaked havoc internally in the US, and externally exploited every unprotected asset on every inhabited continent. No tactic was to vile, and no method was to violent. They were not held accountable then, and won't be now, while they gain the shelter of the good ole boy political cult mentality that dominates both parties.

So, what is to stop them in the future from their usual contempt for laws, customs, human rights, common decency and such; when the evil bastards are never reprimanded and made to pay for their heinous behavior.

The few investigations that are proceeding now will not deter the scoundrels, or inform the public. There will be no lasting lessons.

It is easier for the general public to remember a blow job, then the trumped up lies that led to the annihilation of a sovereign nation, especially when they were duped into support for the later.

10. & they operate in gangs:
Malignant narcissism as a syndrome characterized by a narcissistic personality disorder (NPD), antisocial features, paranoid traits, and ego-syntonic aggression. Some also may find an absence of conscience, a psychological need for power, and a sense of importance (grandiosity). Pollock wrote: "The malignant narcissist is presented as pathologically grandiose, lacking in conscience and behavioral regulation with characteristic demonstrations of joyful cruelty and sadism."<1> Kernberg claimed that malignant narcissism should be considered part of a spectrum of pathological narcissism, which saw as ranging from the Cleckley's antisocial character (today's psychopath) at the high end of severity, to malignant narcissism, to NPD at the low end.<2>

Kernberg wrote that malignant narcissism can be differentiated from psychopathy because of the malignant narcissists' capacity to internalize "both aggressive and idealized superego precursors, leading to the idealization of the aggressive, sadistic features of the pathological grandiose self of these patients."<3> According to Kernberg, the psychopaths' paranoid stance against external influences makes them unwilling to internalize even the values of the "aggressor", while malignant narcissists "have the capacity to admire powerful people, and can depend on sadistic and powerful but reliable parental images." Malignant narcissists, in contrast to psychopaths, are also said to be capable of developing "some identification with other powerful idealized figures as part of a cohesive 'gang' ... which permits at least some loyalty and good object relations to be internalized."

Malignant narcissism is highlighted as a key area when it comes to the study of mass, sexual, and serial murder.<4><5>
