Every bloody day it was this same thing, only infinitely more destructive, always against Edwards by Clark supporters. Just incredible animosity, we never could understand why. I think well of the General himself, but because of what happened then I would not vote for him if you paid me.

I've seen Clark attacked over and over again by Edwards supporters here at DU. It goes both ways, and just as viciously by both parties.

I also think that if you really spent much time here in 2003/04, you're blowing smoke to say you don't understand why. Each of us has his/her own reasons, but there hasn't been a single one that hasn't been explained over and over again.

36. Well, I was around here two years ago

and have to say that I think the nastiness was pretty evenly distributed all around. It was ugly and there was lots of it, but I don't think that any group of candidate supporters can claim to have clean hands. Of course, supporters of particular candidates tend to notice nastiness directed at that candidate more than that directed at other candidates.

I was really hoping that things would stay a little bit more civil this time around, but that's probably too much to ask for. I try to do my part in not contributing to the incivility.:hi:

Look, if someone makes a joke about Clark (even if it's not a nice, friendly one) I'm not going to let it get to me. Yes, you may bookmark this if you like. Oh, I'll defend Clark and any other Democrat I feel is being unfairly attacked, but I've started to take lots of things with a grain of salt (so to speak).

All the candidates are going to trip up, make silly statements, make statements that can be misinterpreted or interpreted in a not so flattering light. Make statements that are grist for Letterman or Leno. Maybe if we all get a little thicker skins and try to play nice it won't be so bad for everyone this time around.

And to Edwards supporters....I thank you good people for your indulgence of my sense of humor (for what it is).
