Look, I'm not one of those folks that thinks we shouldn't criticize candidates, and that everything should be sweetness and light. But telling whoppers, to put it bluntly, is repugnant. And Wrong.

If someone's not DLC, don't claim that they are, or that the DLC is pushing that candidate. I realize that DLC is an all purpose, industrial strength candidate insult, and lord knows I'm no fan of that organiztion, but man it gets tired seeing that label applied wrongly.

Don't say someone voted a certain way on legislation when they didn't, and don't use lying right wing frames.

I like to scrap about candidates, but keeping it honest should be fundamental to the argument.

And oh yeah, one of the basic tenets of this board is to get democrats elected. Mischaracterizing them doesn't serve that purpose.

For example: Don't get pissed off about one legislator's perfectly legal PAC while cheerfully ignoring the dozens of other Democratic PACs, just because you got an email full of bullshit about it.

Do some research. Google really is our friend.

Don't shift the mouth into high gear without first engaging the clutch of logic.

And certainly, ALWAYS, click the link, pull the string, and see where the source of the assertion is coming from. Is it RIGHTWINGNUTS.com? DieDemocratsDie.com? MouthBreathersforAGOPmajority.org??

Have you received unsubstantiated emails that say dreadful things about a Democrat? Do a little checking and research before posting one of those Smells-So-Trollish "concern" threads.

These simple things would do wonders for blood pressure across the forum...!!!!

18. When a legitimate charge is posted those who disagree should put up a REFUTATION

with facts that prove otherwise instead of attacking the messenger or the poster.

I see too many being attacked with personal abuse instead of any honest attempt to REFUTE the charges.

20. NSA or congressional records should carry weight with any forum disagreement.

I'd suggest consulting those if there is a problem. And sometimes you can go right to a source - like a lawmaker's own words or writings.

Seems to me that the board would not allow charges made that come from a RW source or based on rumor.
