Hillary: the Big Dawg is "the most popular person in the world right now''
Sen. Clinton speaks to S.F. supporters

(02-23) 14:56 PST SAN FRANCISCO -- Democratic presidential front-runner Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, speaking today before a crowd of enthusiastic supporters at a San Francisco fundraiser, called her husband President Bill Clinton "the most popular person in the world right now,'' and said that when she reaches the White House, "I will continue the tradition of using former presidents" as diplomats and foreign policy experts around the world.

Clinton made the comments -- met by cheers and applause -- in response to a question from the audience at a $250-a-head luncheon that drew more than 900 people to the Palace Hotel. When a supporter asked if elected president, would she appoint her husband as Secretary of State, the New York senator laughed and said she believed that there may be "a law against that."

But she proudly defended her husband, an enormously popular figure among Democratic voters, saying his approach to foreign policy and international relations during his presidency from 1992-2000 was "a lot better than what we've recently seen.''

1. I do recall a certain prez putting his brother in as attourney general.
JFK. I'm not a big Clinton fan, Bill or Hillary. But, I do believe Bill would be a great secretary of state.

10. Shameless. It should be about what she's done, not him. Makes me
like them both even less.

16. The Obama adminstration might just appoint them some decent positions
Senator Clinton could be a good Secretary of Health and Human Services and Bill Clinton would make a good diplomat in the Middle East.

I wouldn't rule them out as assets working for Obama at all.
