The Best Way To Handle Cheney's Argument Is Not Obama's Retort
Dick Cheney said yesterday that the Brits withdrawal from Iraq is all part of the Iraq plan (and) it was a good thing that Tony Blair was withdrawing,

Obama, in response, stated that it was a contradiction for the Vice-President to say this as the U.S. was adding troops. Point well taken.

But a better analysis:

If our stout allies and the friends are to be commended by Mr. Cheney for withdrawing from Iraq, shouldn't the VIce-President be consistent in his analysis and advocate that the U.S. withdraw too along the lines that Senator Obama has recommended?

If you look at Obama's "brain trust," plotting his positions and aiding his speech writers they are indeed Phi Beta Kappa folks but still not the sharpest knives in the drawer.

1. Cheney doesn't present an "arguement" - just a sneer
Sneering back is as a good response as any.

2. Sneering is good,.......
--- But every administration neocon ought to be personally reminded every single day that the democrats are out for nothing less than to see them all on the gallows.

4. I dunno...
seems like a pretty petty criticism. He answered in a concise and appropriate way.

5. Well........
i agree, he did. I'm just sayin' that there's a better response, the one I pointed out. It's called hoisting your opponent up by his own petard. It's really elementary in rhetorical techniques and it looks like the Obama people don't even know about it. Look how they handled the fund-raising flap. Here's Obama, playing the role of the Wise Sage, way above politics, and his staffers get down in the mud are fight with Hillary over fund raising. In so doing, Obama is dragged down to earth from his high political perch. I'm also saying that you can judge the quality of a candidate by the way his staffers operate. Obama's excuse is that he was flying on a red eye special and getting his hair cut so he couldn't control what his staffers did. That's total crap. The buck ends with him. He's evidently in need of some quality control when it comes to personnel.

6. Obama says "contradiction." You say "inconsistent."
You basically made the same point except that Obama did it more concisely.
