A tear for Thomas Vilsack
Tom Vilsack was a pretty classy guy. I never had a chance to catch where he stood on the issues of the day. In a sane world, he would have tossed his hat in the ring and spent a few winter months (that's next winter, pilgrim) actually talking to voters before pulling out. Instead we live in the land of the dollar bill and all he got to talk to was "money people", those first class citizens who seem to screen our acceptable candidates for us in the best of years and pick them for us in the others.

Tommy, we hardly knew ye.

1. Here are three ingredients for your no-tears farewell cocktail for Vilsack:
One part: declaration of English as Iowa's official language.

One part: privatizing social security.

One part: opposition to the Kyoto Treaty.

Shake well and serve in DLC monogrammed glasses.

Goodbye, Gov!

I hope to see you again in an important cabinet appointment or other role suited to your talents but not as our nominee.

7. If what you say is true, then it's no loss.
I wish I had had a chance to learn his positions, but if those were his positions....not any loss as far as I'm concerned.

2. I was impressed with Vilsack's presentation at AFSCME 2008...
he came across as informed, competent and sincere... and then, I came across this post..

4. It's too bad there aren't more good non-senators in the mix
especially ones from a flippable red or purple states. Vilsack was a bit uninspiring, but Richardson seems to be picking up a little steam.

5. Tom who?
He's in the same category as that Dodd fella, the Delaware Joe whoever he is, the former senator does he have a name, and that Clinton cabinet guy.

6. Saw him on Hardball today. Too bad Tweety didn't put him on when
he was running!

Frankly, I thought he was very good, esp. in light of all the Hillary-Obama hype. He didn't seem nuts, overly power hungry, or full of hot air. He wants the troops out ASAP.

At this moment, I could have voted for him....
