Dean Takes New Swipes at Kerry Campaign
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=536&ncid=536&e=7&u=/ap/20040211/ap_on_el_pr/anti_dean_ads

WASHINGTON - Presidential hopeful Howard Dean (news - web sites) on Wednesday said front-runner John Kerry (news - web sites) was part of "the corrupt political culture in Washington" and accused supporters of his rivals of trying to derail his campaign by funding a group that ran ads criticizing him.

>>>>break<<<<<<

After reading reports of the donations, Dean told The Associated Press, "What we now see is that John Kerry is part of the corrupt political culture in Washington." He said that disclosures of Gephardt backers giving money to the group show that Washington insiders are trying to derail his campaign.

Yeah, sure, Howie. Watch out for those unmarked helicopters and CIA mind-control beams after you lose Wisconsin.

1. These are attitudes that are supposed to bring the party together?
Yep, party unity on the way...even when we're behind we're slammed and smeared...I can hear the sounds of people sitting at home not voting already.

I understand the 10% turnout in Virginia.

And I certainly understand the relative lack of political participation in this country.

21. it does not
Dean:

"He later added that the link between Kerry, Torricelli and the independent group are "unassailable,"

There is absolutely nothing tying Kerry to the "independant group". Kerry is not responsible for what Torricelli does with his own money.

Dean has gone off the deep end.

15. something tells me the negative attack is not going to help
just like with Gephardt, and Clark.

The voters responded by voting against the candidate that was forcefully criticizing the other candidates.

Elizabeth Edwards http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A26416-2004Feb9.html">spelled out nicely how to properly 'attack' a candidate in a washingtonpost.com live discussion:

Question: Downtown Washington, D.C.: I understand and admire Sen. Edwards' relentless positive outlook on the stump, but doesn't this amount to unilateral disarmament against a Republican opponent who has not and likely will not play fair in the fall? Today's revelations in the Plame affair are a case in point, but anyone who criticizes the administration's willingness to sacrifice an intelligence asset in furtherance of a political goal is deemed an "attack dog". When will John turn on the juice?

Elizabeth Edwards: If you had every seen John fight, on the Senate floor, in his Senate race, or in the courtrooms of North Carolina for twenty years, you would be certain that he can be an effective fighter without being nasty, without shaking his finger in the President's face, or even raising his voice. John's questioning of Judge Pickering is a great example. John was prepared and informed about Pickering's record and unrelenting, at the same time that he was civil. And he was effective at exposing Judge Pickering, in forcing Judge Pickering to expose his own shortcomings.

John will expose President Bush, too, for his failure to address the real needs and pain in the country, for his failure to keep his campaign promises, and for his failure to trust us all with the truth on so many fronts. Frankly, that's a fight we need -- civil, thorough, and unrelenting -- if we are going to win in November.

13. This part of the article says it all:
David Jones, the group's treasurer and a Democratic fund-raising consultant, said its goal had been to point out Dean's stands on issues and that he had no experience in foreign policy, which Jones said would be the top issue of the campaign.

"Our goals were accomplished, clearly," Jones said. "What he is doing now is the last gasp of a dying campaign."

yep, their mission was accomplished, smear and destroy a fellow Democrat. If Kerry if found to have any knowledge of this, I WILL NOT vote for him.

14. So, what does Fuzzy mean?
"Federal Election Commission spokesman Bob Biersack said it was "fuzzy" whether Torricelli's contribution was permissible under FEC rules. Donations to such groups are not included on an FEC list of permitted uses for campaign funds. "

Sounds like the Federal Election Commission is 2taking some swipes" also.
In my book, when bureaucrats say something is fuzzy, they're pretty much saying it is wrong.

18. The problem with Dean is....
he says something that at the time seems shocking, but over time, we begin to realize he's right. Are we safer since Saddam has been captured? No. Was the Iraqi war the wrong war at the wrong time? Yes. Was there enough evidence that Saddam had WMD? No.

Today's "gaffe" is tomorrow's truth. Only time will tell on this one as well. Just rest assured that many Dean supporters won't forget the Osama ad.

everything Dean has said been shown to have come true. And that is what the Dean bashers will never acknowledge.

He may not win the nomination, but he has not backed down on what he thinks is right for this party and this country. I am so proud to support him.

"Federal Election Commission spokesman Bob Biersack said it was "fuzzy" whether Torricelli's contribution was permissible under FEC rules. Donations to such groups are not included on an FEC list of permitted uses for campaign funds. "

Toricelli was using his Senate campaign funds for this ad. He isn't even running for Senate anymore. This is just plain wrong, no two ways about it.

What's wrong with calling attention to it?
