There is a reason why Clark hasn't announced: It's called Iran.

Clark was blogging at DailyKos today, and these two entries pretty much sum up where his priorities are....and his priority is NOT playing political games to position himself for the Democratic nomination.

Two excerpts from DailyKos today:

Bush (47+ / 0-)
Sure, he'll listen. He is a politician. He reads polls. He worries about his legacy. But he won't like it. He wants to be viewed as imperturbable. Nobody is. So if we build enough of a groundswell, if we concentrate not just on Democrats but on Republicans, we CAN sway this policy.

General, How receptive have non Democrats been (15+ / 0-)
to your warnings about the push for war with Iran? I know that you speak daily with a wide range of people, both inside and outside of government, from both parties and from no party. Do you find people other than traditionally anti war liberals to share your belief that peace with Iran is still possible?

receptiveness of Non Democrats (44+ / 0-)
I've found non-democrats very concerned. They don't question whether Iran is engaged in Iraq, or whether Iran aims for nuclear weapons. They assume the worst. But they also want a policy that works. And many have begun to doubt the Bush administration.

8. No, I don't think they particularly like one another. But I could be
wrong. They may be more forgiving than us Clarkies.

Becides...I think a Clark/Edwards ticket would be more appropriate.
Our military problems will be the most important issues and Clark's the one to solve them. He'd also be a more acceptable/logical commander-in-chief than Edwards.
I also don't think Clark would accept te position as VP unless there were some written agreements of just what his role would be. Maybe if he was granted control of the military and foreign affairs he'd accept and Edwards was in charge of domestic programs. That's the only scenario by which he's accept INHO. Sort of like a Dick Cheney Vise presidency.

However this could cause lots of problems...so why not just have it a Clark/Edwards presidency if the two men felt they could be compatable...which I doubt.

7. Looks like Clark is becoming to stopping war in Iran--
--what Al Gore is to stopping global warming. Achievements on either project qualifies either to declare late for the presidency.

10. With a crowded field, Clark may be smart to stay issue focused. But blogging at Kos *is* positioning
I approve of that position (as my sigfile denotes) and I support the way he's playing the game. But don't doubt for a second that Clark is in the race and he is playing the game, but just on his terms.

He can't compete for money. The fastest weiner dog in the weiner race is still not going to look good if it jumps over to the pony races for a lap. I'm certain he's in, this is just how he's playing his cards. I think it's pretty smart and I admire the hell out of him for this approach. Being strong on substance and credibility is the best gimmick ever.

12. How ironic that one of the better men for the job is busy doing the
important things that need to be done, putting his ambitions on the back burner for the good of the country. I hope he does announce, esp. so you can avoid my heartache. But I respect what he's doing right now.
