DU is a great resource for current events but sometimes it is good to have a reminder of old news. There has been so much that has happened the past several years and it is sometimes easy to forget about all the crimes.
What I am proposing is a forum similar to Latest Breaking News except it would consist entirely of news stories that are over one month old. They could be stories reminding us of crimes committed earlier in the administrations years. It could be stories such as Enron, the proposed Office of Total Information Awareness and the phone surveillance scandal, or stories about Iraq which were run in major newspapers before the war and have now been shown to be obviously false.
And we could back further as well. Now that Bush is gearing up to attack Iran, would it not be helpful to pull out some old articles on Iran Contra? What about past support of Saddam Hussein by Republicans close to or within the Bush administration? People could dig as far back into the newspaper archives as they felt was relevant, and we could even see articles that were written in the early days of our nation's history.
Sometimes an old newspaper article can have even more significance months after its publication, and I think such a forum could get some very interesting posts.
Who is with me on this? Give some suggestions on possible names for the forum as well because I don't know if I like the word flashback or not.
