Why I'm sticking with Howard Dean
I'll admit it doesn't look good that he will be the nominee, but I actually think the contest will strengthen the democratic party.

Turnout has been very high--if there is no contest I doubt it will continue to be. The contests have not hurt the Democratic party. What is happening and even the media is focusing on this--Democrats are mad as hell at Bush and want him out of the White House. The high turnouts is being pushed by the contests. While Kerry clearly has been able to use the condensed schedule of contests to his advantage as front runner the turn outs I feel are due to the still competitive contests we have. While Kerry is clearly the favorite there are still lots of people out there who WANT to vote for Howard Dean, John Edwards, Dennis Kucinich, Al Sharpton, and had he continued Wes Clark.

Above wanting the contest to continue I continue to want to vote in my primary for someone I truly believe in and support--Howard Dean. Dean has a demonstrated record of accomplishment in Vermont which I truly admire and which I think will contrast nicely vs. Bush's poor record.

I also support Dean because he made me proud to be a Democrat. Many of the other campaigns have taken up his themes, but he was the original fighting Democrat who took on Bush on the war, Leave no Child behind, tax cuts, and an assortment of other issues. When many Democrats in congress were afraid of Bush's approval ratings--Howard Dean was on the front lines opposing him.

I don't believe in falling into line until the contests are over. Many states have yet to be heard from including some of the biggest and most democratic in the country--California and New York for instance. Let's let the contest continue and it will only strengthen the eventual nominee and we will be able to vote for the person we believe will be the best president.

2. There is a lot of pressure to fall in line.
But I've worked my buns off for Howard Dean and STILL believe he is the best choice for president. His chances are slim, yes. But he has earned my vote, and I can't wait to cast my ballot on Super Tuesday.

3. why I'm sticking with Howard Dean
Because I can!!!

Also because I happen to think that he has pushed the Democratic party and more than one candidate is starting to say things now he was saying six months ago.

8. I'm with Dr. Dean until the end of this great journey we have been on.
I have not been this excited by a candidate in a very long time. Even with Bill Clinton I had doubts, but he won me over eventually.

With Dean I felt empowered and energized. I will always be thankful to him for that, and I want him to remain a big force in this party, and want him to be a force at the convention, whether he be the nominee or not.

10. I Don't Understand WHY
anyone would abandon Dean just becaue he's behind. But apparently a lot of people are.

I'm feeling a little better about voting for Kerry in the general. But I hope there's some way for Dean to stay on the national stage. And who knows -- political earthquakes can happen.

11. Why I am leaning more and more to Howard Dean
I am sorry, but after the headlines these past few days I'M ANGRY! I'm with Howard! The LAST thing I want is another INSIDER!
That's what I heard Judy W touting as what's favorable about Kerry last night. And that really hit me.

Which past presidents came from being a Governor, rather than an insider? My history sucks, but I can recall Raygun (I didn't like him but most "Sheeple" still think he was the greatest. Carter, the man did win a Nobel, and folks are beginning to appreciate his efforts in hindsight, Clinton, say what you want at least we were booming.

The only Insider I would ever consider is Dennis K.

12. isn't it interesting that the corporate media beat up so hard on
Dean when he was front runner but have hardly laid a glove on Kerry since he assumed being front runner? all they do is build him up calling him "electable"--no scrutiny what so ever.

13. Thank you.
It's always refreshing to see such conviction.

Of course, I see it a lot from Dean's Supporters.

The ones who post "I used to support candidate X but now I support Kerry" threads only want the Kerry Supporters to welcome them to the bandwagon. Then they can suddenly feel 'popular.' High school all over again, I guess.

I am with Dean until he tells me otherwise.

there are people who feel the need to belong to the "winning" team instead of staying with their convictions. I suppose that is what makes this world go round??

23. Kerry, the peer pressure candidate. ...
When it's all "he's leading in the polls!" "he's the front-runner", it's difficult to come to any different conclusion about Kerry support.

Let's just call Kerry and Heinz the King and Queen of the Prom, be done with it, and get on to the business of picking the most qualified person for the job.

15. Me too!
If Dean had not done what he did last year, I'd be writing in 'Bugs Bunny' on CT's ballot on March 2.

Since he stood up for us last year when the other contenders were herding being Bush and selling us our for their political ambitions, I will stand-up for him in his darkest hours.

20. Yeah, but now the GOP is LOVING Dean
New conservative talking points today are to praise Dean's "conviction" in denouncing front-runner Kerry. Kind of like in 2000 when Limblow and Co. praised the "conviction" of Ralph Nader.

Dean is playing right into GOP's hands when he tears down Kerry. (I'll agree with Dean on this point, though: hiring Torricelli is bad policy.)

They're just trying to make Dean the Dem Perot.
