Non-Kerry supporters: Remember, you're voting for delegates
not for a candidate to beat Bush. That election is in November. You can still write in your candidate if the DNC has succeeded in clearing off the field for Kerry by the time you vote. If you keep write-in campaigns going in your district, you can still win delegates. Your vote should count for more than just a go-along. You can still work to change the party through the primaries.

1. exactly
& I'm copying something I wrote in another post because it applies here too.

This connects to something I've been thinking, which is that Kerry's doing well in the South yesterday doesn't prove a thing about how well he will do in the South in the general election, because it was Democrats voting in the primary and Everybody votes in the election. Even if 100% of Democrats wanted Kerry if they only make up 40% of the population in the South (or wherever)it doesn't make a bit of difference that he is more "electable". It's all just double talk double talk. But nothing wrong with doing whatever you can to give your candidate an edge this way. Just see it for what it is.

2. Exactly, exactly!
People tend to get caught up in the whole perception game. "Well, we have to make it look like we're a united party." The reality is that the the primaries don't do half the work the convention has to do, which is to come up with a platform, and who knows what else we don't see that effects the way Democratic politics is done locally?

3. I agree and I think you should
I support a different candidate but the populous states have not voted yet. Granted they may be in Kerry's column, but with a front loaded primary season, it disenfranchises the more urban voters to have 13 states pick our nominee.

4. I wonder what would fix this injustice..
It's tempting to say a single primary day--MegaSuper Tuesday. What would be the pluses and minuses of that? The major plus is it would reduce the power of the few front-end primary states. What is a minus that could outweigh that?

5. the megaSuper Tuesday would wholly depend on money
instead of a campaign based on the candidates, it would be based on whoever could earn the most money in fundraising/.

6. Why is that necessarily the case?

7. They can't campaign all at once and would run out of money

Having smaller states vote first also gives them the voice that they complain is oftem missing. I just think McCauliffe stacked it purposely not to derail Dean but to give a fundraising edge to whomever could pull out in front.
