History will perhaps answer that question. As the Congress today debates whether or not to agree with the pResident's decision to send more troops into the meat-grinder of Baghdad, nobody knows what the outcome will be. Some, mostly supporters of Bush and the war, cross their fingers and hope for the best. Those that have been against the war strongly believe that the only thing the "surge" will do is create more American casualties and a wider conflict.

The 2008 calendar plays a large role in this build-up by the genius in the White House. The Republicans are still licking their wounds from the ass-kicking they took last November in the election. They have no plans to be standing behind George W Bush as the 2008 elections approach. They would rather slide down a 50-foot razor blade and land in a pool of alcohol than go against their Leader. But this is about their survival - not about the troops, or victory, or the war in Iraq.

2. Going in...
Going in is obviously the greater disaster, as, if we were not in, we would not need to get "out".

3. Everything that happens when we leave is ultimately the result of going in
Our fate was sealed the moment the invasion started. Everything since then has just been an attempt to put it off.
