is there a good reason to NOT join a Draft Al Gore group?
Without ripping me a knew one, can anyone come up with a reason why I shouldn't join the local Draft Al Gore group? I really like Gore, but I haven't made up my mind yet on who I should support (other than obviously a Democrat).

1. He is damaged goods.
That's a shame, but I don't think he will play well as a candidate. If he was ever on the ticket, I'd happily vote for him like I did the first time, but I don't think it's a good idea for him to run.

3. Damaged Goods?
I'm sure he'll feel real damaged at the end of the year with an Oscar, a Nobel Prize, a successful concert series and tons of instant sell-out speaking events.

Any poll done about candidates on DU that includes his name always gives him about 70% conservatively.

America loves a comeback. He not only survived his "loss" with grace and class, now it's understood he didn't even lose so even that damage is non-existent. Since 2000 he has re-invented himself, re-defined and only has more experience and strength. If he ran he would completely outshadow anyone declared. While they have been talking about doing things they have been in position to affect change but what have they done? As a citizen Gore has been a leader and so many people know that.

The do-over factor alone would put him over the top.

2. I'm against a draft of any kind...
..if the man wants to serve.., he will decide in his own time and will serve to the absolute best of his ability...
if he doesn't want to serve.., I thank him for the outstanding service he's given this country to date...

4. I Can't Think of a Reason
other than the fact that draft movements often don't succeed in persuading the object of the draft. I would much prefer Gore over the "top three".

6. He is great where he is
This whole global warming situation is really serious. He is the go to guy in the US about the subject and he has a passion for it. I think he should stay with this issue and spread the word. If he ran for president, the issue would fall to someone less well-known and become less relevant. This is his issue - he needs to run with it.
