Wow. Michelle Obama has a pretty impressive resume herself.
For those of you who might be interested in Barack Obama's wife, Michelle's, background:

"Michelle was born on January 17, 1964 to Marian and Fraser Robinson on Chicago's South Side and graduated from Whitney M. Young Magnet High School in Chicago's West Loop. After high school Michelle went on to Princeton University where in 1985 she graduated with a B.A. in sociology and a minor in African American studies. After college, Michelle continued her education at Harvard Law School where she earned her degree in 1988.

For three years after Law School, Michelle worked as an associate at Sidley and Austin, where she met Barack, in the area of marketing and intellectual property. She left the corporate law world in 1991 to pursue a career in public service, serving as an assistant to the mayor and then as the assistant commissioner of planning and development for the City of Chicago. In 1993, she became the founding executive director of Public Allies, a leadership training program that received AmeriCorps National Service funding and helped young adults develop skills for future careers in the public sector.

Michelle Obama currently serves as vice president of community and external affairs at the University of Chicago Hospitals, where she also manages the hospitals' business diversity program. Michelle has fostered the hospitals' relationship with the surrounding community and developed the diversity program, making them both integral parts of the Hospitals' mission.

Michelle began her involvement with the University of Chicago in 1996 as an associate dean of student services where she developed the University's first community service program. Before her appointment as vice president in 2005, Michelle also served as executive director of community and external affairs.

Barack, Michelle and their two daughters Malia, 8 and Sasha, 5 live on the south side of Chicago where they attend Trinity United Church of Christ."

6. With Michelle Obama sure it get's better, but I hope Barack keeps a lid on her for a while
This is his time, perhaps Oprah Winfrey could have Michelle on her show (alone) and just do a good ole fashion introduction of Michelle to the American people.

Barrack, should wait until Hillary starts having Bill show up at events and then bring out the future first lady.

7. I don't agree
Michele is such an impressive woman, letting people get to know her early on will only help him.

But there's another reason that no one talks about - it's important that people - black and white - see that Obama is married to a black woman.

25. Why?
I don't understand this.

Because she's a strong, extremely accomplished woman who probably opened the doors that got her husband where he is now?

He should be strong enough to rejoice in that publicly, not try to hide it to make himself look better.

All celebrating her does is make him look good. It says he's strong and confident enough to have a strong and accomplished wife and be proud of her. And it says something that a woman like his wife would be his biggest supporter.

Seems to me a win-win. Unless he's hiding a tender ego in there. I'd be surprised to find that.

20. I think you forgot "articulate"
I know it's nothing deliberate on your part, I'm just pointing out that it's not too often men are described as "independent" or "accomplished."

"Elizabeth Edwards' husband is great, he's so independent."

23. Agree on "independent" - disagree on "accomplished"
Men are described as accomplished all the time.

24. Alright, I'll withdraw the "accomplished"
It was just the combination, maybe, that I was reacting to. It sounded suddenly like we were talking about someone in Little Women and it made me cringe. :)

and I like Elizabeth Edwards alot, she is one sharp lady. I want a woman to run who is not a DLCer! Barack is a bit DLC, I wonder if his wife is more of a real Democrate.

27. Michelle Obama will be a big asset to the campaign
in much the same way that Theresa Heinz-Kerry was a detriment to her husbands 2004 campaign. Mrs. Obama appears to have what it takes to complement this campaign, her intelligence and humility seem to mirror Sen. Obama. I hope the public sees what a fine, grounded family this is. No silver spoons or giant egos here.
