Thank you, General Clark.
As a member of the Draft Movement and as a student who began one of the first Students for Clark chapters in the country, I want to thank first General Wesley Clark for his service to our country and to our party. I also want to thank my fellow Clark supporters who, like I, have dedicated much of our lives the past few months to make General Clark the next great president of the United States. There is no man I admire or respect more than General Clark and regardless of what an individual may think of his politics, I have to say that he is the most honorable man I have ever met. I will work for whoever the Democratic nominee is and I wish General Clark, all my fellow Clark supporters, and all Democrats the best in this election.

Godspeed,
RAGE

3. Ditto.
I also wish Clark the best. I admire this man so much, and I think he would've made an excellent President. I'm really depressed that he didn't win, but I hope he'll remain in politics one way or another. Maybe he'll be VP?

Anyway, I'll work my behind off for Kerry (or whomever is the nominee). I'm still ABB.

Kerry/Clark? An all military ticket vs. an all chickenhawk ticket. That's the ticket!

4. It isn't over
I echo your sentiments. I doubt Kerry would select him for VP but I would be more than thrilled with that decision. I would like to hope that General Clark will be considered for a cabinet position in the Kerry administration. Secy of State, Secy of Defense - he's more than qualified for either position.

7. Kerry won't choose Clark for VP because...
Clark doesn't play it safe. Clark says controversial things about team bush. That is not Kerry's style. Edwards is exactly Kerry's style.

However, Clark would make a great Secretary of Defense. And it would behoove Kerry to let it be known that Clark would be on the short list for the position.

9. Join a movement
continue working for change.

If all of our collective power can be organized for change, then watch the DNC start to sweat.

It can happen.

It can only happen if every single person who supported a candidate for change continues the fight.

My biggest dream is to see the DNC/DLC start to have to consider the views of all of us.

I will continue to support my candidate, Dean.

The more votes he gets, the more delegates he gets, the stronger position he will be in to have change written into the party platform.

10. Yes, THANK YOU, Genersl Clark.
I almost switched to you when you announced, and was ready to when and if Kerry withdrew. I believe, however that you don't jump ship until it docks. That's the reason I have so much respect for the supporters of the other candidates.

I hope that General Clark remains in public life. He'd be great at whatever the next elected president asks him to do, simply because doing a great job is what he has done for a lifetime.

He would elevate our next Cabinet and our next President just by his presence.

In short, :yourock: , General!

12. Well said, Rage.
I, too, am grateful for his entrance into the race, and saddened by his exit. I admire his sensibility, outspokenness, and would like to see him in the mix when the new Democratic administration takes office in Jan., 2005.

He would have made a great President. However, he would make a great Vice President as well...

13. Gone for now, but
definitely not forgotten. Are we going to be lucky enough to see General Clark working for the American people in some way in the future - one can only hope. Thanks General, for showing us the way to

"a higher standard of leadership".

14. Thank you so much, Wes
I hope you stay in politics. I'm sure you could actively help to reform the democratic party. I think that if you had more name recognition you would have won the whole thing.

Thanks very, very much for all you have done.

Sincerely,

David Attewell

15. Secretary of Defense
Come on, that's a no-brainer. Kerry doesn't need Clark as VP for the military credibility, he's already got it as a decorated Vietnam vet. He'll probably pick Edwards or Graham for the southern votes he'd pick up (Edwards would really be the better choice, he'll be ready to make a hell of a good run at the presidency in 2012).

Put Clark in as Secretary of Defense, he would truly shine in that position.

General Clark, thank you for responding, once again, to your country's call for duty. You elevated the discourse of the political campaign. You staked your hard-earned reputation on the Democratic party, lending the entire Democratic campaign credibility with your hard-earned reputation, and putting yourself on the line so you could focus the public eye on issues of substance facing our nation.

General Clark, I am an idealistic person who had lost hope in our political system over the past two decades. You helped to restore my optimism with your willingness to sacrifice a comfortable life for the physical and mental challenges of the political crucible. You reminded me of my parents' generation, which sacrificed so much for a just cause during World War II. You took me back to the days during childhood when I was moved to tears by John F. Kennedy's inaugural speech and his call to public service.

I send my deepest respects to fellow Clark supporters who have written so beautifully and have made me so proud here on DU. This is a sad day but we supported a damn good man.
