The War .... in books.

--- Has anyone else noticed that there are a huge number of freshly-written anti-administration books floating around these days? Of course you have. Generals, journalists, ex-officials and assorted scholars have produced an entire (and sudden) generation of books on the subject of the various ways that the Bush administration has lied, cheated or stolen in its march towards PNAC-ordained war. Everybody and their brother has written a book, it seems. They cover every angle, from corporate manipulation... to RW extremist ideology,...to fundamentalist religious sects, etc, etc. The crimes of the Bush administration are amply presented.

--- No such corresponding literary outpouring has come from the other side.

--- These books are pretty good --- I've read a couple of them,.... although I must admit that their titles run together in my mind -- they are that similar in scope and intent. Problem is,.. these volumes contain information that the average American will never see (because the average American gave up reading books decades ago), nor fully understand (language).

--- Personally, I'd like to see the democrats expend a little (a lot) more effort speaking directly to the American people to inform them of what has been going on,.. and that basically amounts to reducing the content of all these books to terms and broad concepts which are within the comprehension range and attention span of the electorate. In fact, I think that is a far more appropriate undertaking for a political party, than is the private determination of policy in small, topmost councils,.. and then selling it to the people. The fact of it is,.. the DNC and the DLC in no way reflect the spectrum of sentiments and concerns to be found on Main St. Most Americans are actually still in the dark about the behind-the-scenes events of the past six years. In all that time, I cannot recall an occasion of a democrat breathing the initials PNAC,... and there are scant few times that it has cropped up in news coverage. Why is that?
