Maine Caucus results remain unofficial
Technical glitches, human mistakes and surprisingly high voter turnout are complicating the state Democratic Party's efforts to come up with official results for Sunday's caucuses.

"It's a huge undertaking," Dottie Melanson, who chairs the state Democratic party, said Tuesday.

She said some towns' numbers did not add up, some may not have held caucuses and others "were managing their caucuses in their own unique ways" that had to be reconciled with party rules.

Under party rules, municipalities have until Feb. 15 to get their numbers to the party's headquarters in Augusta.

2. Are you kidding me?
It took a while, she said, "going through every single caucus reporting form, validating them, making sure that there weren't any mistakes. And we came up with the total number of caucus votes for each candidate and then we came up with the number of delegates for each candidate."

The forms spent Monday and Tuesday "on my kitchen table," Waxman said. "With my big, yellow dog guarding them."

end of quote

What kind of election is this? Ballots on the kitchen table? This is simply appalling. Elections are too important for this kind of crap.

3. Yet they had no problem calling it for Kerry 5 mins. after the caucus
...doors closed.

Go figure.

4. Well, we sure have had a lot of experience
as a nation, as a world with the motto, "Here's the deal, like it or lump it". DNC/DLC have only reinforced the message.

I guess I'll just lump it.
