Republicrites schooling us on how to be the minority party.
Are they keeping their powder dry? no.
Are they giving in or enabling the majority party? no.
Are they staying on track with their agenda (pathetic though it is)? yes
Are they preventing progress on things they don't want to go throught? yes.
Are they united in their opposition to the majority party? um...well, mostly.

anyways, here's my point: I hate cockroaches, but darn they are persistent. I can admire their persistence even though I don't like them.

I think we need to pay attention to how the repukes function as a minority party.

Are they annoying and whiny? hell, yeah. But they are not "keeping their powder dry".

I hope we remember this.

1. Heh, What A Load of Crap. I Think You Should Wait Before You Pronounce Judgement
Edited on Thu Feb-08-07 02:53 PM by Beetwasher
If the Repubs keep this up and take back the House, then you may have a point. Until then, it's the DEMS who WON BOTH HOUSES w/ their tactics. Not the Repubs.

I have a feeling you will be proven wrong and the Repubs will LOSE w/ their whiny ass bitching, moaning and obstructionism. The public wants ACTION on things they care about, not whiny cry babies who prevent the Dems from doing what they were MANDATED to do.

5. That is where you may be right- we are indeed in power now.
Our past mistakes of "keeping the powder dry" are forgiven so long as we hold on to power and get things done.

7. not sure you got my point: I'm not avocating their whining, I"m pointing
out how they continue to be persistent, and don't keep their powder dry.

I'm only making the point that we were constantly told such tactics would not work if we did them as the minority party, but lo and behold, the republicans are not pulling any punches.

I addressing the concept that we were constantly told we were powerless as the minority party, even though I and others kept saying "go Big or go home".

anyways, thanks for you imput, I just think you're missing my overall point.

11. I Just Don't Think The Repubs Are Schooling Anyone

We should not emulate them. Could we have done things differently? I think so, but not like the Repubs and we won ANYWAY.

2. Right On!!!!!!!
This is how the Republicans came to power. As obnoxious
as it may seem to us at times--most of the times it
works making Dems look weak.

3. Umm, Who Won The Last Election Again?
Seems both of you seem to forget who runs Congress these days. And the Dems did it w/out being whiny, obnoxious assholes.

4. True- but only after 3 critical lost election cycles and a failed war.
We arent going to have a failed war & an obviously corrupt idiot to run on everytime.

I agree with some of what you say but I also agree with the spirit of the OP- I think we would have started winning a long time before we did had Democrats not kept their powder dry so much.

Time will tell if you are more right or if the OP is more right- we did win one election by "keeping our powder dry" and "letting the Republicans fall on their swords"- but it has only worked once, and only after the lies and corruption reached critical mass to the point where the media could not spin it.

Perhaps being in the majority will negate all of this- I hope you are right- but it sure does appear that the Repubs are not going to make it easy for us in the same we we made it so easy for them.

6. Actually
I don't agree w/ the Dem strategy in totality and part of their success recently (perhaps, probably, a big part) is due to circumstance. However, Repub tactics so far, IMO, will be seen seen for the wining obstructionism w/out substance that it is. The Dems on the other hand could have been more successful w/ similiar tactics because they would have actually had popular approval on their side, such as blocking/fillibustering the admins noisome judicial picks. I don't believe the Dems should have "kept their powder dry" for instance in those circumstances and would have been able to pull it off w/out much, if any, backlash. The Repubs, while I agree they ARE persistent, are blowing their wads on VERY unpopular positions (blocking debate on Iraq??! It's arguably political suicide), and it will backfire.

So while my feelings on the subject are mixed, I DO feel that the OP is bullshit. We are NOT being schooled by the Repubs. The Repubs are acting like whiny, obnoxious morons and are taking stands on unpopular positions that will backfire.

Because Repubs are "schooling" no one. They are whiny and obnoxious and standing up for unpopulare bullshit and will lose even MORE because of it.

you're welcome to disagree. You ARE fixating on the wrong part of the OP, but whatever.

I notice you've spent a lot of posts in this thread calling what I said bullshit.

I think you've more than made your point. Do you have anything else to contribute of value?

13. Actually, I Think I Used The Term Bullshit Once
(In reference to your post) But if the term fits...

I think I'm focusing on exactly the part of the OP that I want to focus on, which is your main point as I take it; that Dems are being "schooled" by the Repubs. I assume you put that in your title because it was an important part of the post.
