"I don't think anyone can stop her. She's unstoppable — she's got such a machine."

Clinton aims to raise $75M before 2008

By BETH FOUHY, Associated Press Writer

NEW YORK - Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has embarked on one of the more ambitious fundraising efforts, with a goal of raising $15 million by the end of March and amassing more than $75 million before 2008.

Snip...

"I don't think anyone can stop her. She's unstoppable — she's got such a machine," said John Catsimatidis, a New York businessman and longtime member of Clinton's finance team.

Snip...

A core group of about 20 people — many of whom have been raising money for the Clintons since President Bill Clinton first ran in 1992 — have been asked to try and raise $1 million apiece for Hillary Clinton's 2008 effort. A larger group will be asked to meet lesser but still-ambitious goals of $750,000 and $500,000 on down.

Snip...

Clinton's campaign chairman, Terry McAuliffe, is on a national book tour to promote his memoir. He is using the tour to meet with major donors and has asked supporters to commit to Clinton and limit donations to her campaign alone.

The campaign's first major gala, in New York on Friday, targets supporters under the age of 45 — a crowd referred to as "HillBlazers." Tickets start at $250 per person, with committee members asked to raise $25,000 apiece.

1. I don't think she's unstoppable at all. You don't need $75m to participate in a debate. nt

I love that bit of rhetoric from "John Catsimatidis, a New York businessman and longtime member of Clinton's finance team."

ON EDIT: No slam meant against Hillary, but her team sometimes sounds a little silly re this whole "inevitability" thing. Let Hillary do her thing and then see what the voters say.

Howard Dean and his "machine" looked unstoppable early on, too. (I'm not comparing the two of them in any other way.)

12. No, it wasn't. Media was always over-reporting Dean's numbers in Iowa and under-reporting Kerry's
ground strength there for months.

The media manipulated perception thinking they could kill off Kerry and THEN turn their guns on Dean.

BTW - DLC did not direct ANY money to Kerry's campaign, even with the media claiming his campaign dead fpor months - Kerry had to use his own money to finance the last couple months of the primary. If DLC wanted Kerry they sure never acted like it. I believe DLC was rooting for Lieberman and Edwards at the time.

Guess what John? She can spend all the money in the world she wants to. But it isn't going to buy votes from those of us who will NOT vote for her.

Like ME.

17. Only voters vote in dem. primaries.
Wait for the debates, in which Hillary will be destroyed for her IWR vote, knowing that the so-called intelligence was bogus, then being one of Bushco's biggest Dem. enablers. Dem. primary voters will smell the stanch of Iraq and go for Clark, Obama, or Gore (if he is in) for being on the right side on Iraq all along.
