The messages that Democrats and other anti-war activists need to get out
Edited on Wed Feb-07-07 12:41 PM by butlerd
1.)When Bush/GOP smear Democrats and other opponents of the "war" in Iraq (i.e. "giving aid & comfort to our enemies"), they are in fact smearing the vast majority of the American public who ALSO do NOT continue to support Bush's failed "policies" in Iraq.

2.)A vote to block public debate/votes on matters relating to Iraq=A vote to continue to support Bush's failed Iraq "policies" and any of his other "faith-based" ideas about how to achieve "victory" in Iraq.

3.)The 2006 midterm elections were another "accountability moment" for Bush/GOP and demonstrated a clear lack of support/enthusiasm for the Bush's "policies" in regards to Iraq. The Democrats were (supposedly) given control of Congress so that they could take some kind of meaningful (BINDING!) action in regards to forcing a change in our policies in regards to Iraq, especially when it should be clear to everybody by now that Bush doesn't care what anybody (other than his dog or his wife) thinks.

4.)The consequences of Democrats NOT doing something meaningful about Iraq are probably going to be worse for both the Democratic Party and, more importantly, the rest of us, than if they actually DID something. With the vast majority of the public supporting a drastic change in policy and/or withdrawal from Iraq, WHY are the Democrats so afraid to stand up to Bush and the rest of the warmongers? It seems to me like most people either don't care about whatever kind of "victory" Bush is hoping to achieve in Iraq or they simply aren't worried too much about "losing" in Iraq. Either way, nearly everybody except for a small group of die-hard enthusiasts have given up on Iraq and there is very little (if anything) that Bush et. al can do to change that fact.

5.)The Democrats are ultimately going to be blamed by the GOP and the RW for our inevitable "loss" in Iraq regardless of when it happens and under what circumstances. However,at least we will be on the record as having REALLY supported our troops by getting more of them back home to their families and loved ones alive and in one piece instead of forcing them to continue serving a mission/policy that no longer makes sense nor has any clear objectives and EXIT STRATEGY. I would think that a lot of our troops (and their families and loved ones) would be grateful for that.

1. Any escalation of troops is the complete opposite of why so many went to the polls.
And if this goes through it won't look good at all for the dems and specifically for the ones who voted for this. I'll be checking who voted for what in my state. This escalation can be viewed as a go ahead for Bush to engage Iran in a war.

2. the message we need to get out is that if we don't stop these maniacs . . .
they're going to destroy this nation and get a whole lot of us killed . . .

Congress MUST impeach to a) stop the madness, and b) prevent anything like BushCo from ever happening again . . .
