Thank you, all the non-Clark supporters
you've been, with very few exceptions, very gracious tonight. I, along with many other Clark supporters, thank you for that.

What's most gratifying is to see people who slammed Clark back in the fall recognize that he really *IS* a class act and a true Democrat. We had some pretty fun fights over it, but I'm proud that Clark's dignity and demeanor at least made you respect him, if not support him.

He's going to be a great asset to the Democratic party no matter what happens, and we should all be happy for that.

Thank you.

1. He went from close to my last choice
to my second choice. I wish it had been he and not Edwards who survived tonight.

3. thanks DSC...
you were one of the folks I had a few knock-down drag-out fights with. It really is nice to hear that Clark was able to earn your respect.

Naturally, I wish Edwards was the one to go, too, but c'est la vie. On to November!

8. You are welcome
I can't say it was all him, as Kerry didn't help himself but Clark ran a good campaign and had some interesting ideas. It really is a shame he didn't do better in the vote totals. When the book is written on this race I think we will see that the party screwed both Clark and Dean beyond any measure we see now.

6. I'm surprised
I thought Clark has $$$ and time, as well as lots of great supporters who fought bravely and well.

Best wishes to you all

:-(

I can't express my appreciation for the outpouring of love and support from the non-Clark supporters. Wow.

DU really is the best,
Jennifer (choking back my tears, along with my pride, while trying to figure out who has won my Ohio 'Super Tuesday' vote)

11. Clark still has my vote...
even if it's in May. He had my vote before he entered and he has it now.

4. Hey Clark Supporters -- His Time Will Come
Hey just because we prefer somebody else doesn't mean we don't appreciate and respect the other candidates, AND their campaigners.

As for Gen Clark he wasn't my first choice (not enough campaign experience IMO) but hold on -- we haven't seen the last of him, he's a definite asset to our party and our country.`

21. We have not seen the last of Clark.
He learned so much on this campaign! He still has a great deal of respect and support.

He was not my first choice, either, but I had enormous respect for him. I look forward to seeing him in the future.

Yes, we may fight. But look at ALL our candidates. Other than Lieberman, I could have supported any of them.

If all the repukes have to throw against eight teriffic Dems is Shrub, they are the ones hurting, not us.

We will kick butt! They will be gone!

7. Good gracious. ^_^
That's really what it should all be about.

If we can't be gracious and human with each other, all is really lost.

I didn't join in any slamming, but I'm gratified that you are able to see some good outcome of that.

another... :grouphug: for the road.. (or pillow...)

9. Sorry for the loss
DUers have been cool for the most part. I was teetering on my Dean support today and got some good advice and support. The Clark announcement was a surprise to me after the OK victory. It's always sad to see a good man drop out of the race. (I was gunna say go, but he isn't gone for sure) :) Best of luck, picking new candidate, take your time and know you have already shown great judgment. Clark is a class act. He'll be back.

10. F
Much as I'd like to, I can't bring myself to post a cuss as a subject header, so "F" will have to do. Clark was my number 2 choice, and DAMN, I'm disappointed he's out. If it helps Dennis, that'll be small consolation. And I mean small. Kucinich and Clark were the heart and soul of this primary season to me (or maybe soul and heart; I guess it doesn't matter.). I sincerely hope Wesley stays active in helping to defeat the Bush junta; we need people like him, and people like him, sadly, are few.

12. Best wishes to all the Clark supporters!
I choose to believe that the power of grassroots democracy has an impact - perhaps in ways we may never know.

I hope that your efforts will manifest a more humane foreign policy and a nation of health and prosperity. I also want to acknowledge your candidate for the intelligence he brought to the 'gays in the military' debate (contrasting the US with European nations)- he's obviously well informed and speaks with an authority few others can claim.

With deep appreciation for all your individual efforts and all you will continue to do in the future!

13. Even if it helps Edwards, I'm sorry Clark dropped out
Let's face it, the party has already spoken in favor of John Kerry. More candidates and a longer process can only help keep the focus on us, and delay Rove's attacks.

Clark is indeed a class act. If he's not #2, I hope he wins a spot in Arkansas politics or is named to the Kerry cabinet!

Clark and Edwards really had some razor tight battles, didn't they? The general bested us for third in NH and win in OK, before Edwards prevailed for runnerup in TN tonight.

16. yes, he is a great man
which is why I, and many others, are shedding tears tonight.

He gave us a singular opportunity to really change the way things are done in Washington. While my heart breaks, I'm not broken. We will defeat this maladministration come hell or high water, and I know Clark will be a part of that effort.

17. He's a good man.
I gave very serious thought to voting for him today. His speech at the little diner in Roanoke the other day that was broadcast on C-Span was moving. He spoke to a group of @ 100 with the verve and energy that he would have for a crowd 10 times as large. He's smart and he has character. No wonder the US media doesn't take him seriously.

20. He has greatness

and I was always touched by his giving of the best of himself. I'm sure we'll be seeing more of him- campaigning for the Party in the fall, perhaps, and maybe in a Cabinet job.
