Perhaps the one thing they should gather from those members NOT returning to congress is their old parking passes

Pink Sugar Update: It's So Hard to Say Goodbye...

...to such a sweet parking spot. From Roll Call's Heard on the Hill column (sub. req.):

As an incredulous HOH tipster put it — under the subject line “WTF?” — “Katherine Harris still parks her $100,000 BMW convertible in the Cannon HOB parking garage.”
HOH believes the value of Harris’ lovely BMW 645ci convertible coupe is probably more like $70,000, but he can confirm that the ex-lawmaker has indeed been parking it regularly in the Cannon House Office Building since she lost her day job. The car was there Friday evening, in the same spot where she always parked when she actually worked in that building.

Is that kosher? The car still had a medallion hanging in it from the 109th Congress, and a House Administration aide said Friday that House officials were still in the process of distributing parking permits for the 110th Congress. So for now, cars with permits from the 109th are being allowed in the garages. After that, Harris may have to find somewhere else to park the car when she’s visiting her old digs. HOH misses her already.

2. Are we sure this isn't just another one of those ongoing perks
thatex-congressmen receive, like being able to be on the House floor during voting etc?

4. No, the article even said that they're still in the process of handing out 110th Parking Passes
And therefore are still accepting 109th Parking Passes

5. It disturbs me that people voted for her.
Let alone vote her citizen of the year.

How can you pull a lever for total idiots like Harris or total evil like Mean Jean?

I'm guessing it's abortion and single-issue voters.

But the republican voters should wonder why the republican in Washington did not end abortion during their exclusive control of the government for six years.

6. The last time I checked,
Our beloved ex-Governor, the "Education Governor", Jeb Bush, lowered Florida's ranking in education from 42nd in the nation to 48th.

I think that might have something to do with it.

7. Republicans will never outlaw Abortion
First they need it for a wedge issue and second, they just wanted to make it harder for poor folks to get access not only to abortions but to family planning. Trust me, if you're some wealthy anti-choice politician and find your daughter in a delicate but embarassing situation - abortion is easily available

9. Of course the republican leadership doesn't want to outlaw abortion.
They say they do but they had control and didn't do it, so why aren't the fundies up in arms?

You know and I know it is a wedge issue they want to keep alive forever. Like Bill Clinton said, republicans need a divided America. But why isn't the anti-abortion crowd asking themselves why the republicans didn't do something for the six years they held exclusive power? I suppose they think evil libruls have magic powers that prevented good people like Santorum from doing anything.

Democrats are up in arms because the Dems are not doing enough to stop the war with a strong mandate. Why weren't the fundies up in arms after the coup installed Junior? I don't get it.

12. Always has been
for folks with money. And not just the super wealthy. Anyone who could afford a flight to Japan.

In the early 60's my girlfriend did and her Dad was just a Barber.

I agree with you, they'll never outlaw it. It's there little chestnut roasting on an open fire. My husband has been saying this for years.

10. Yeah, I'm showing my age!
Pull a lever! How quaint! Counting all the votes! What an outdated notion.

11. It would be sweet if all the parking permits got distributed
And her car got towed. I bet we would see the syrupy-sweet "christan" facade that she tries to project fall away and her true raging hell-beast emerge.

Another Super-"christian", JC Watts was still an Oklahoma congressman when he got in the face of an airport security guard who ticketed his vehicle when Watts left it unattended in a no-parking zone, and this was barely 2 weeks after 9/11.

13. Another 'christian' did the same thing at Harrisburg International - Ann Coulter
Edited on Tue Feb-06-07 10:59 AM by LynneSin
This was in the local papers, which I caught a few years ago when I was visiting families. Seems the airport security person at the security gate asked Ann to remove her shoes (like everyone else has to do). Ann threw a hissy fit and went so far to call the security agent a dyke that just wanted to feel her (Ann) up
