leveymg did a great compilation post that really nails the reasons for outing Plame, beyond revenge.

14. Trust me, when some idiot tries to tell me that BCCI isn't relevant, I question their
ability to put two and two together. heh

Everything going on today has its roots in the machinations begun DECADES ago with BCCI linking just about every BFEE character including Bin Laden.

The past IS present.

4. Agree, k&r
It fleshes out the story so much more, and takes it light years beyond the (mistaken) perception that this is just petty revenge.

6. Plame = DSM (a repost)
source: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=1928350#1928440

Congressional committees asked CIA analysts whether anyone in the administration pressured them to falsify reports ... the answer was "no" ... but the committee completely missed the whole point of the Plame affair ...

the BP stated the problem very clearly: "CIA agents and friendly informants now know they can be compromised by their own leaders" ...

the issue is not whether analysts, and operatives, were directly pressured ... when entire CIA operations are destroyed by agents of the administration, a war, or better yet a treasonous act, has been waged against the institutions of our own government ... this was the reason Plame was outed; it had nothing to do with "embarrassing" her husband ...

the intent was to totally stifle groups in the CIA that strongly opposed the fabrication of evidence leading up to the invasion of Iraq ... it's criminal intent was to destroy the critically needed autonomy of CIA analysts ... our government badly needs a system of checks and balances and the Plame affair was nothing less than a power grab by the WH ... those who didn't go along were destroyed ...

the American people still believe the myth that we invaded Iraq because bush "was GIVEN bad intelligence by the CIA" ... the truth is, he was given good intelligence by the CIA ... he destroyed those who spoke the truth so that he could "fix the facts around the policy" ... now where have we heard that phrase before ???

the Plame affair IS THE SAME AS the Downing Street minutes ... exactly the same ... it was all about the fabrication of evidence by the WH ... and now, it's all about a good old, Watergate style cover-up ... i hope the bastards who did this rot in jail for the rest of their lives ...

10. I am in complete agreement with you on that.
That's why I am certain that no matter what was written into IWR, BushInc was going in - and if there had to be WMDs planted as a threshold then so be it. In a way we were fortunate because if they had been more careful and covered their butts with WMDs this nation would be WAY behind in opening their eyes to this regime.

8. It's an insiders joke about freepers --
They can't spell and apparently don't proof their posts and that's one of the ways their inadequacies manifest. Instead of "HUGE" they post HUGH. ANd their fingers run out before all they've got all the exclamation points down.

And they type SERIES for SERIOUS.

And so on.

9. Freepers are also 'screwn' more often than not.
Screwn = screwed

Why can't they spell or conjugate verbs? We don't know.

It is by far the finest FR contribution to society. I now feel screwn almost every day - and it always brightens my mood!

19. sad but true.
And certainly the essence that I adore about 'screwn' is that, in fact, we really are screwn. The fact that it came from an hispanic, female FR drone just loads on the irony.

20. I enjoyed "No Amnety" and "Casting Asparagus"
"No Amnety" was a sign held up by some female in a lawn chair in an anti-immigrant protest.
Those were good.

Then some wise-ass (of course we have NONE of THOSE around here ) came up with:
The Amnetyville Horror: The House Built Entirely by Illegal Aliens!!!

extremely witty and clever posters. That's one of the reasons I love this place.

I love casting asparagus. But only those stalks that are too tough to eat.

13. Excellent
"Outing CIA CPD (Brewster-Jennings was a front) had the effect of doing away with competing intelligence sources -- sources that were being uncooperative in building the Administration's false case for attacking Iraq AND Iran."

I think that sums it up. We've speculated for a long time that Wilson wasn't the target, and really Plame wasn't either. Bigger fish.

(Also it's wonderful that GD Politics is a Snickers free zone...thank God for some content)

16. Libby's great excuse, "Don't plame me, I can't recall."
Totally laughable of course, considering all the damned notes he and Cheney made during the many meetings they held on how to manipulate the public's perception of anyone who disagreed with their idea of invading Iraq.

They even said that Scott Ritter, the former Marine intelligence officer who criticized the Bush administration's drumbeat to war, was involved with some kind of shenanigans when he went public.

Man, I'll bet Scott Ritter would like to testify about what he saw going on in Iraq when he was there looking for WMD's as a member of UNSCOM.
