Interesting wording on Kerry's comments about Clark withdrawing
Edited on Wed Feb-11-04 01:04 AM by quinnox
From the AP story - "He emphasized the importance of national security in this race against a wartime president," Kerry said in a statement. "He will no doubt continue to contribute to the life of our party and our country.

We look forward to working with him to defeat George Bush and bring change to America."

It may be nothing, but it may also be a hint of a possible VP slot for Clark.

edited to put in whole quote.

1. I bet that same statement is said about everyone who drops out
It's only a call for party unity, I think.

4. Possibly...
not sure if Gep's withdrawal was met with the same statement. But I'm still keeping my fingers crossed...Kerry would be smart to convince Clark to be his running mate, as would any of the guys remaining in the race.

2. Well, it's pretty obvious that Kerry has the nomination locked up
it's just a matter of time now, barring any major, major tragedy.

5. Sorry, but tonight
I couldn't give two shits what Kerry has to say!

I'm just not in the mood to hear anyone starting to spout the "party unity" shit. Esp. not him!

7. I care...
it's a nice sentiment from Kerry, and I hope it portends a VP offer. Kerry/Clark would be a very powerful ticket.

6. IMO, this means Clark will endorse Kerry

who is the only remaining candidate with a strong foreign policy and national security background.

Too early to speculate about the VP slot (not that that'll stop us here at DU...).

9. If he wanted Kerry to win, he should have stayed in the race.

12. Edwards should have his chance now
I'm not against a little horse race; it would be good for the party. Still see Kerry winning with ease, but, hey, that's why they hold the primaries.

14. Yep. I hope it isn't too late.
I expect to see some serious media whoring on Edwards now.

It should be interesting.

16. They still have Dean to kick around
Edwards should be fine, unless he REALLY challenges. Then he'll have to start wearing his helmet to bed at night.

17. ewwwww!
just kidding! I would be sooooo happy if Kerry picks the general to be his running mate. But, not to much has been happening that I WANT lately. Seriously, that would be some good media coverage, help us in the south, neutralize Kerry's IWR a bit, energize us hardworking, stamp licking Clark supporters. Sounds like a good idea to put Clark on the ticket to me :)
