INCOMING TRANSMISSION!!!!
Just got this in my e-mail!

All Clarkies fall in:

----------------INCOMING TRANSMISSION--------------
Hi all.......

Just had an interesting phone call from a source I trust ........
sit tight ....word is that Matt Bennet who announced Clark was
getting out of the race may have spoken out of
turn!!!! ........Let's see what daylight brings ......the fat lady
has not yet sung........... Let's see what develops tomorrow....

When I know more, I will pass it on ....

Joan Little
San Diego, CA

-----------------END TRANSMISSION-------------------

We're not out just yet!

3. So the news generated concerning Clark's departure...
...stems from this low level individual?

I doubt the press would certify such a story from such an unreliable source

6. I wouldn't
The press has done far worse before. They seem to be intent on pushing Wes off the stage, and I don't think they would have an issue delivering something that could possibly cause his entire organization and base of support to disintegrate.

5. nah...
he's out.

He's a class act, and as I predicted here awhile ago, he won't stay in the race when it's clear he hasn't a chance to win. If he couldn't do better in VA and TN today, he's got no chance.

A damned shame, in my mind - I honestly think he was the best candidate in my lifetime. But the voters have spoken and I respect their decision.

I'm now a Kerry guy - and if he picks Clark as his VP, I'll be ecstatic. Kerry/Clark is a winning team.

What if who said he was out was NOT speaking on Wes' behalf?

16. well... it was his spokesman
who said it.

And it makes sense for him to drop out - he didn't do what he needed to do, and he's got too much class to keep fighting a losing battle.

Believe me, I'm broken-hearted, but he's out. Hell, even if he WASN'T out, the fact that it's reported everywhere sort of makes it hard for him to "undo" the deed.

20. True
More than 70 percent of the delegates have yet to be chosen. If Clark exits as per se the rumor, I will understand if not agree. Both he and Kerry are fine candidates. But it's always sketchy to prognosticate too soon.

Curiouser and curiouser. I hope the damage hasn't already been done.

Also, you should probably take that person's name off the bottom of the transmission -- unless it's your name.

This evening. I could be totally off base here, but at least I will go to bed with hope on my mind. Tomorrow night may be a different story.

17. Get me off of this roller coaster!!!
Honest to god I cannot take it.

I have shed so many tears tonight. I don't have the strength to get my hopes up that it's not all over. I just can't now.

Part of me would love for him to stay and fight.

The other part of me thinks he shouldn't. I don't know if our party deserves him. I think some believe that a man of his character & integrity can't be allowed to succeed in politics today. He would set the bar too high. He was treated horribly in this primary and he deserved better. He has a new grandson... maybe he deserves to just go and enjoy life for a while.

21. Don't you think that if that were the case,
there would be something posted at Clark04.com? I can't believe they'd let all of the speculation go for hours and hours without putting a stop to it if it weren't true. Besides, if he's speaking in Little Rock at 2:00 tomorrow, he's going to have a heck of a time being here for the 5:00 Wisconsin rally.

I'm hoping beyond hope that he's not out, but I'm not holding my breath.

I wonder if the 'speaking out of turn' just indicates that the campaign was not supposed to confirm anything until Wes gave his speech tomorrow.

26. it won't be posted on his website before his speech tomorrow. he's out.
He is going to announce his withdrawl from the race tomorrow at 2pm. He will NOT be announcing his withdrawl from the race on his website.
Matt Bennett is Wes Clark's communications director. Clearly I'd believe what he has to say. If it wasn't true they'd squash the story immediately.
