"My name is Maxine Waters and I知 not afraid of George W. Bush! "

Hard Rain Journal 2-2-07: Forget about 2008, the Fate of the Republic could be Decided in the Next Six Months

-snip-

I stand firmly with you. My name is Maxine Waters and I知 not afraid of George W. Bush! (Applause) My name is Maxine Waters and I知 not intimidated by Dick Cheney! (Applause) My name is Maxine Waters and I helped to get rid of Rumsfeld! (Applause) My name is Maxine Waters and Condi Rice is nothing but another Neo Con and she doesn稚 represent me! Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), United for Peace, Washington, DC, 1-27-06

-snip-

All you need to know about Biden, Obama and the rest of those who want to run for President of the USA in 2008 (with the exception of Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-OH) is that they do not seem to understand what is happening in this country or in the world.

-snip-

The Bush-Cheney regime has blown off the leadership of the Congress, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the US electorate and Reality itself.

We are hurtling toward an unprecedented constitutional crisis (and that is the best case scenario).

We are hurtling toward a regional conflagration in the Middle East, and for the most perverse reasons, the Bush-Cheney regime has chosen to ally with those governments most deeply infiltrated by the killers who attacked us on 911 and those forces responsible for most of the 3000 plus US military deaths in Iraq.

The corporatist media is not telling you enough about four important story lines: the Libby trial, the purging of the US DoJ, the institutionalizing of a Christian supremacist's mercenary army as an instrument of foreign and domestic power, and the Neo-Con drive to attack Iran.

-snip-

If Bush and Cheney are allowed to escape the consequences (political and criminal) of violating the nation's sacred trust with its secret agents, if Bush and Cheney are allowed to take back control of the narrative by manufacuring a war with Iran, if Bush and Cheney are allowed to pursue the purging of career law enforcement, intelligence and military professionals, if Bush and Cheney are allowed to build their own private army of reich-wing, Christian supremacist mercenaries -- then the Republic could be irretrievably lost, and perhaps humankind's best hope along with it.

Here is an update on these four vital story lines. Please take the time to review the brief excerpts aggregated here and then share them with other concerned citizens.

Cheney was Personally Involved in the Outing of Valerie Plame, and the Subsequent Cover-up

The Purging of the DoJ and the Rise of Blackwater

Bush-Cheney Want War with Iran, and They Want It Now

20. Nor is Gore. He warned about the constitutional crisis over a year ago.
In his MLK day speech. Anyone who didn't hear/read it, should.

6. Fellow Californian Rep. Waters is an Unafraid TRUE American Patriot!
She never fails to "slap" me awake from the my corporatist media-induced snooze.

Just like Rep. Kucinich, Sen. Kennedy, Rep. DeFazio, and their ilk, every now and then, they filter through the swamp of lies, and diversion stories of corporate media, and give me a slap to awake me to what really matters in America today.

God BLESS our Liberal and Progressive Democrats in Congress.

10. In the above, I had mentioned "DIIGO" for bookmarking,
and here are the details: http://www.diigo.com/ Be sure to check out the flashmedia tutorials.

I had seen a reference to DIIGO on DU a while back, and contacted them for details. They signed me on, but requested that I wait until they made their official debut before giving them any publicity. That came a few weeks later, but I never got around to publicizing it --- until now. I have a DIIGO toolbar on my browser, which makes the process simple and fool-proof.

9. Maxine teamed up with the late Gary Webb (Dark Alliance) to expose CIA
drug running in South Central Los Angeles. She visited Cindy Sheehan at Camp Casey.Maxine campaigned with Ned Lamont in his bid to unseat Joe Lieberman. She joined with local merchants in Inglewood, Ca. to keep a Walmart Superstore from sucking the economic oxygen out of the area.

She's a first rate, scrappy crusader.:yourock:

19. Considering the list of crimes the Bush Crime Family has committed
Is it any wonder people are afraid of them?

The Bush Family Evil Empire have so many suspicious "suicides" associated with their crime syndicate that it's almost laughable that they've gotten away with so many "suicides." Buth then they've got Poppy Bush helpin' to orchestrate things--textbook CIA most of them.

Saw her speak at the protest last Saturday and she was great.

We can count on her to keep speaking truth to those damn idiots holding power and the Congress that seems to go along to get along, and to the masses!

18. Too bad Kucinich has put his foot in his mouth...
...Sometimes I think being quite about certain things is better, especially when you want to be President. I'd rather have a President run as a moderate, and secretly have some of these feelings...than go out on TV and start blurting it out destroying any chance he has (and believe me...you're kidding yourself if you think Kucinich is going to even sniff the Dem nomination). I'm not saying Obama believes any of the things Kucinich does...

25. You would rather have a candidate who lies to the voters? Isn't
that who we have now? I will take an honest, truthful person over a lying, hedging person any day. We need more Kuciniches in this country, not fewer. No thanks, you can keep your liars...

28. "He who remains silent is understood to concede"
Besides, Dennis is one of the props (not to imply he doesn't believe what he says, he really does) they keep around to mollify the liberals (a vital part of the "we suck less, so what are you going to do, vote repuke?" strategy). I'm sure he is fully aware that he has absolutely no chance of ever getting the nomination, so his best alternative is to force at least the discussion of real issues into the campaigns/debates within the party.

26. This expresses how I felt watching John Edwards today.
Edited on Sun Feb-04-07 12:59 PM by Felinity
He was on Meet the Press, and I just kept thinking that he, and Hillary, and Biden, and most of the other Democrats are living in a dream world where they think we can wait out the next 2 years and then fix things.

No one is mentioning the day by day deterioration of our Government, and transfer of power to private organizations.

I think John Dean is right, and we need to start impeaching Gonzales, and every other political crony we can think of within the administration. We need to start passing laws to prevent the politicization of our government bureaucracies.

I am sick to death of focusing on the Presidential election of 2008. I am tired of the assumption that there will even be one if we don't start biting the heads off of the organizations that have been invaded with the cancer of neocon incompetence; and that cancer is already metastasizing.

Thanks Maxine. I wish I could rec this 10 times.

Edit for spelling error.
